@NanoRaptor@bitbang.social ThinkBoy, sadly, only has one nipple.
(Yes, I refer to IBM’s TrackPoint as a nipple and always have. Those who don't see it are in denial.)

@marcoarment Honestly, the retail experience I had was really, really good.
I still didn't buy one obviously, but that was in spite of the excellent retail experience.

Is it just me or does Interview with a Vampire suddenly make a lot more sense?

@mwichary@mastodon.online The web death spiral isn't because people don't like visiting sites. It's because every site has become so hostile, people have to fight while using them. This isn't an “ads are bad” take. That's over simplistic. It's a “supply/demand economics combined with massive unfettered plagiarism combined with a deeply ingrained zeitgeist that sites should be free” take. If AI chats become just as easy to spin up and are also expected to be free, they will suffer the same fate.

Oh hey! Given it's still technically #MARCHintosh, I guess I should tout my MacMoji sticker pack. I had a fun time making these. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macmoji/id6754798976

@fds@mastodon.social @torsteinv@mastodon.social @atpfm@mastodon.social In a weird sad way, this truly lackluster “update” retroactively makes buying a Studio Display in 2022 a good investment. The Studio Display in 2022 was much nicer and not that much more expensive than the only other 5K option at the time, the LG UltraFine. Given no one should be tempted to “upgrade” to this year's model, many owners will end up using their 2022 model for the better part of a decade.

@Gte @marioguzman My desire for a Power Mac G3 stemmed from my experience with the Power Macintosh 7100, which required a shocking amount of disassembly just to upgrade the RAM. The ease of G3’s door is why it made my most notable Macs list.
Side note: Someone once told me those desktop Power Macs had a cool hinging feature. It was certainly possibly dumbass teenage me missed it, but it turns out the hinge came with the 7500 (probably because the 7100 sucked so much.)

@marcoarment @siracusa Here's my prediction for John's stages of grief:
(Immediately) ”It's just a shame Apple couldn't make it work…”
(After a few days) ”Well if Apple had a Mac Pro...”
(After a few weeks) “Unsurprisingly, I have purchased the new and highest specced Mac Studio.”
(After a few months) ”It's no Mac Pro, but this Mac Studio pulls its weight.”
(After a few years) "Casey, I've always appreciated *small* desktop Macs going back to the original, and let's not forget the SE…"

@fds@mastodon.social I was actually wondering if a live keynote would have led to them announcing just the new Studio Display XDR and then followed up with a press release saying the regular Studio Display has been refreshed.

@billgoats @NanoRaptor It depends on the context.
On a related note, and I say this having recently had a kid learn to read, English is the best.

@anildash@me.dm @glennf@zeppelin.flights As someone would love Markdown support in Apple Notes, I think the implementation would be tricky. For example, when would Markdown notes be rendered as rich text? Some solutions render mid-writing, but that’s a bit awkward to me, as does adding a preview mode.

@anildash@me.dm In my mind, Stage Manager shouldn't be presented as something analogous to the other two. In my mind, Stage Manager is a basically an automatic window manager. The hierarchy of choices should be something like a checkbox for “use windows” that if checked, lets users select between “manage windows manually" and "Stage Manager”.

@flargh@mastodon.social Motivated by wanting to be able to sit cross-legged to create a lap for our then baby, I started practicing around 8 years ago. It was one of two lifestyle changes that finally improved my posture, the other being a much higher monitor. The added mindfulness has made it easier for me to pick up other exercises while the added flexibility has almost certainly spared this 40+ year old from minor injury. This is in addition to the mental health benefits yoga and other exercises provide.

@anildash@me.dm I would hope this exists just for iPadOS 26 to make people aware of the new windowing system. My guess though is that it's sadly here to stay. In Apple's defense, the iPad is in a unique position, in that only some users even want a window manage while most really do want a big iPhone. The same cannot be said for Linux, Mac or Windows. I do wonder if Full Screen Apps should be the default, in that anyone who wants windows is probably savvy enough to go into settings.
