It’s my birthday today and I’m feeling like a walking disaster😅
But at least I can be proud of my art and share it with all of you! :)

I love this drawing because it has a lot of texture in it and I don’t do that often😅
I’ve been modifying it a little to design a keychain with it

Sometimes I like to draw colorful critters :)
(This one looks a bit like my dog tho)

Hi #PortfolioDay ✨
I'm Gema, a freelance digital artist from Spain
I specialize in drawing colorful illustrations & whimsical characters with fantasy, science fiction and horror themes.

I'm thinking a lot about Disco Elysium lately
I guess I should replay it or something
I'm on a mission to install Clone Hero and revive my Guitar Hero days :ablobfoxbongo:
I have a couple of old guitar controllers from the Xbox 360 but it seems I need an official receiver to be able to connect them to a pc
I found one on Vinted two days ago and I'm crossing my fingers hoping it will work🤞
Today I want to remember this piece, The Owl, one of my favorite drawings.
I even have a shirt with it on the front :D

Yesterday I learned that humans kill a hundred million sharks per year and most of that is only for their fins :(
So of course my sketching today got a little out of control😅

Today I want to remember this piece.
It's one of my most personal illustrations and it holds a special place in my heart😊

✨ I updated my blog and added a post with August's video game summary :)

I’m not feeling very well lately and drawing is getting difficult.
I’m feeling pretty useless tbh but between yesterday and this morning I managed to sketch a few lines

I don't know if Mastodon is a social media graveyard or not, but I feel comfortable here.
From minute one I found that people actually like to interact with each other here.
And I think people are more interested in my art. I've gotten almost all my latest commissions through Mastodon :)
When I post in Bluesky, there's a void. I don't know if it's my fault but I don't understand the interactions there😅
A little character concept for today's sketch :)

I've enjoyed Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy a lot
I think it's become my favourite out of the three games :bugcatheart:
Today I’ve given new life to an old drawing of a cute merdog. It’s weird, I know, but I love him! :D
(Now I’m thinking on making acrylic charms with it😅)

Hey! I've uploaded a new post to my blog talking about Journey, one my favorite games ever, and other similar games.
Journey influenced my art style a lot too so I just want to spread the love I have for it :)

Here are some cactus flowers from my mother's garden.
We don't know how they're called but they are beautiful😍

Useful link for us gamers👇
It's a compilation list of games that used gen A-I.
It's updated regularly too it seems :)
Don't give more money to the Slop💪

It seems I can't finish any books lately.
I'm a picky reader but this is getting ridiculous
It's so frustrating, I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a book :/
The monthly video game post is up in my blog!✨
It's a summary of the games I played in June :)
https://komorebisunrise.neocities.org/posts/2026-07-01-Games-I-Played-in-June-2026
Redbubble me ha ingresado 13€ después de meses de sequía absoluta
Está claro que así no me haré rica lol
I gotta be honest, I'm getting a little fed up with my blog project.
I've learnt a lot about coding but I'm feeling overwhelmed.
But I've spent a lot of time working on it too and I don't want to abandon it😩
Replying to
@dona@mastodon.art They prefer it because 'that's where everybody is', the same with Instagram.
Most artists are looking for large following numbers and engagement, even if it's all shallow.
I get a sense of community in Mastodon that I don't get there and I love it
I managed to finish a book this week (yay!)
What's your favourite sci-fi book? Any recommendations on what to read next?

Replying to
@kapellosaur@speedlines.stctp.zone Glad you think so!🧡
Replying to
@kapellosaur@mstdn.social I really don't remember lol
I'm always looking for new books but then I can't focus enough to finish one of them
Replying to
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@sunny.garden I'm glad to hear it helped you :)
That's why I shared it, I want to know exactly what I'm buying too :D
Replying to
@amxmln@mastodon.design Yeah, I've never felt the same in other platforms.
It's the first time I actually want to share my thoughts with people online :)
Replying to
@zorumeart@mastodon.art Just a silly doodle I painted over to fix some things :D
Replying to
@kapellosaur@mstdn.social Oh, but that would spoil the surprise ;)
Replying to
@kapellosaur@speedlines.stctp.zone Haha thank you! It's nice to know someone it's interested in my ramblings :D
Replying to
@NIGHTEN@hi.nighten.fr I want Mastodon to have more people too but never on the level the most popular platforms have.
I don't think it would be good to be that overcrowded. Not everyone has to be in the same places all the time
Replying to
@dona@mastodon.art Yeah, Bluesky doesn't look like a place for interesting conversations.
And I think it's related to the fact that most Mastodon users are older than the users on other platforms and that shows.
I feel more at home with older people tbh
Once you stop playing the numbers game, Bluesky becomes pretty boring imo
Replying to
@Ulisu@mastodon.art Thank you very much! I'm glad you like my art!✨
Replying to
@Ulisu@mastodon.art I understand completely. I left Instagram because it was really affecting my mental health.
I lived in an obsessive loop of drawing just to post something every couple of days, uploading and then waiting and comparing numbers (likes, reposts and follower gains).
That's no way to live imo. I realized I just want to focus in my art and thoughts and leave that rat race lol
Replying to
@Alairthephoenix@pounced-on.me That's good to know!
I've been on the same instance since I joined but if some day I have to migrate I'll do it without fear :D
Replying to
@t_robinart@mastodon.art It depends of how you use it or what you want to achieve, really.
If you only want to browse, any social media will do.
If you're an artist looking to share your art (like me) social media can be daunting.
It seems smaller spaces work better sometimes :)
Replying to
@NIGHTEN@hi.nighten.fr I've been on Instagram, Twitter and I've tried some less known platforms like Artfol. I'm still on Tumblr and Cara but I don't post there often
The big sites are all very toxic and the small ones don't survive much time so I really can't help you.
I don't know where to find something new that works well for me either :/
Replying to
@antimundo@mastodon.gamedev.place Ya, también tienes razón. Además, todo está superpoblado y como artista es muy difícil que la gente vea tu trabajo entre todos los demás usuarios :/
Replying to
@jankhambrams@meh.social Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy my art! :)
Replying to
@ghostcatte@mastodon.art I like some things about it too but it's still a copy of Twitter and it has inherited many behaviors (at least in the art community) that make me not want to use it too much
There are LOTS of art share posts, art train quote posts and all those things designed to get engagement.
In Twitter they were a tool to beat the algorithm (if you were lucky) but in Bluesky 'supposedly' there is no algorithm so it wouldn't work.
They only clutter the timeline imo
Replying to
@kapellosaur@speedlines.stctp.zone Only the first of many heatwaves. Spain will be suffering them all summer, as always :/
Replying to
@BubblegumYeti@mastodon.social If it doesn't have AI images or there is some option to filter them, then it's fine :)
Replying to
@sindarina@ngmx.com I hope :D
Replying to
Replying to
@samerion@mastodon.gamedev.place I was thinking of doing that but right now I don't have the energy.
I wanted to get some ideas tho
Replying to
@thattagen@mastodon.art I don't post on Tumblr often anymore because all my 'engagement' is made of scam bots.
I even disabled comments lol
