@deprecated_ii@poa.st Yes, technologies actually can take off once enough of the massive glut of patents expire. Li-Ion batteries for example took 20 years until businesses were able to produce decent ones with less risk of being extorted, same as solar panels.

What cable is used for 1000BASE-T is irrelevant if TCP is used to copy the file, as any corruption will be automatically corrupted. The only thing that makes a difference is the DAC, the cable to the headphones/speakers and the playback device - any metal cable will perform well enough considering that wet mud works fine.
