A Sysadmin for Hire
Imperfect ally, but I'm trying my best. This is an LGBTQ+ safe space. Posts auto-delete after 90 days.
Proud resident the Twin Cities. Liberal Christian. Partner to a kick-ass woman who is smarter than me and has the PhD to prove it.
For money, I am a writer of all things #IaC as a #DevOps engineer, although I'm currently between jobs. #getFediHired
For my sanity, I'm also a fan of:
#dadjokes
#puns
#LEGO
#cycling
#pf2e
#boardgames
#urbanism and urban planning in general
I boost all corgis (then share them with my partner), the odd assortment of tech humor and terrible puns, posts from folks seeking employment, things relevant to MN or US current events (being careful to avoid a large degree of negativity), and the rare political hot take. I hope to provide a place where everyone can feel welcome, be comfortable being themselves, and smile after leaving.
Dear employers everywhere. The following list is not fully remote:
- Remote, but you must live within commuting distance of $office_location
- Remote unless you live in $metro_area, in which case you must be in office $x days per week
- Remote in $list_of_states
- Remote, but we can demand you move to our office location without warning and you have to do so within six months. $Company does not offer relocation assistance. [Editor's note, yes, I saw a company with the audacity to post this for the world to see.]
Personally, I'd like to see a new classification of remote-based roles, something like Conditional Remote, that I can just ignore. Requiring in-office time in any way (aside from occasional all-hands or similar) speaks volumes about what you actually think about your employees.
RE: @NotYourSysadmin@infosec.exchange
Well folks, as of Friday, I'll be unemployed. To be clear, this is by choice not by force. The toxicity of my current workplace made it more tenable to risk unemployment than to continue in such an environment.
That said, I am actively looking for a new role. During my downtime, I am going to start playing around with this #kubernetes thing that I think might catch on. I'll also be working towards catching myself up with the industry in general, and taking a bit of time to work on myself. If you're in need of a senior #devOps or #sysadmin type person, or someone who can step into a low-level #EngineeringManager role, please reach out. I'm happy to provide my resume or contact information on request.
