The biggest threat to your privacy, security, civil liberties, rights, and justice is not Russia, China, the United States, or any other country. It is not nationalism, fascism, libertarianism, or any other political ideology.

Your greatest threat is also something everyone wants — including you: money.

Money changes incentives. Corporations will sell you out for it. Governments will look the other way when it benefits them. And in the right circumstances, even friends or family may turn against you for it.

Money — or more precisely, the pursuit of wealth — is one of the most powerful forces shaping human behavior, and often the one most capable of overriding trust, ethics, and principle.

If the United States had been focusing more on renewable green energy, the oil crisis would not be impacting us as deeply as it is today.

This is a reminder that fossil fuels, such as oil, are limited resources, while renewable green energy is unlimited and no country can block you from obtaining it.

How my bot @warning@mastodon.cloud works.

It is designed to be the last poster, so that even if it encounters another bot, it gets the last word. In an aggressive reply feedback loop, it will drop the photo. Mastodon.cloud has no rate limit, which means my bot always gets the last word. It will also reformat the post if it reaches a character limit. Exploiting the 4.1.x block feature, it can still tag and message people even if they block it.

The only way to avoid the bot is not to post on Mastodon.cloud.

We need to go hard left — not a passive left, not a performative left, but a truly progressive left — like following a beacon in the night sky to escape the darkness of the Donald Trump era.

We need someone who believes change and accountability are priorities, not another conservative Democrat who tells us that unity matters more and that we must once again accept a so-called “new normal” set by the previous administration, which broke everything. We need to end this cycle.

MAGA is simply awful, but they have one advantage: they are given everything they want — and more — regardless of how harmful the outcome may be. Meanwhile, Democratic leadership tells us we need to compromise our values, principles, wants, and needs for what exactly? To embrace their way of life?

You fight for voter turnout because, while your methods may differ, the end goal remains the same. People are fed up and are fighting with themselves just to show up and vote.

If it is not progressive, it will be conservative. I guarantee it.

I need an active Misskey server. As I often post whilst at work, I don’t want to flood the timeline. On an active server, people are likely to see my posts without them feeling intrusive.

I also need a Misskey server where I can post in English, Japanese and Korean without any issues.

Finally, I’d like a Misskey server where conversations in threads with around four or five participants aren’t automatically flagged simply because there are a lot of people involved.

I like Misskey because it has more features and fewer limitation. However, it can also be locked down more too, so if you have someone micromanaging everything it can be a pain too.

Linux user: I recommend Mint / Pop_OS! / Zorin OS

Windows user: I used it Mint and it broke or did not work.

Linux user: Yes, but you'll learn Linux this way.

You're fighting an uphill battle. People want to use their OS, before they learn their OS. Read that again. And again. Read it once more, because I know it didn't sink in.

@Kingu@sakurajima.moe There are many people who make a fuss about it not being open source. I imagine some people would like to fork it. But truth is, I'm not worried about software is open source or not, but rather does it work and does it work well. Vivaldi does both.

I have mixed thoughts concerning this.

In the United States, male citizens (and male immigrants) ages 18–25 are required to register with the Selective Service System, which is used in the event of a draft. The United States has not had a draft since 1973, at the end of the Vietnam War era.

Fun fact: I did not know this until well after I was 25 years old. No one ever informed me of this fact, which is ironic, since I actually tried to enlist in the reserves. You would think that would have automatically enrolled me in the Selective Service System, but ironically, it does not (I checked). I even somehow slipped through the cracks and started the initial initiation process. It was on the third day that my medical record was finally flagged (asthma), and I was given a polite but blunt talk about being brave for having even tried, but also to go home.

Having said that, today, knowing what we as a nation have now become and how everything is governed, I would not fight for this country and would have scolded my younger self for even trying. But I do remember thinking years later that the whole process should have been automatic, since I did not even know this was a requirement until I was over the age of 25.

Having said all this, I do believe this whole thing is absurd. We can automatically enroll you to fight for this country, but we refuse to automatically enroll you to vote.

All those new laws for age verification, for example, are to prevent you from using an operating system or ROM that cannot be minored or controlled. Blocking reCAPTCHA on a non-approved, non-certified government and corporate sanctioned devices is just 1 piece of the big picture.
