@QasimRashid@mastodon.social I haven't read the article yet, but I was reminded that several years ago someone asked my advice on a high school graduation gift for a young woman who would be going away to college in the Fall. They knew she'd be receiving lots of other gifts and wanted something that wasn't just more of the same. I suggested a self-defense class. Granted, high school grad is a bit late, and it applies even if she's not going away to college.

I pointed out that it's not possible to be both Z and N at the same time. And I like dogs. I've had enough fun calling out this digital lounge lizard and it's time to block him. It probably saved my life.

No exaggeration; I'd been thinking about suicide.

Note: The tern "sexual harassment" had not yet been coined. But that's what it was.

The kind who yell "Get out of the street, you f**king pedestrian!" when I'm in the crosswalk and have a green light. I don't carry a brick (foam or otherwise), but staring pointedly at the license plate seems to help. Maybe silently mouth the letters and numbers. Someday, when I am run down in an intersection, I hope to come to in an ambulance mumbling the last thing I saw: a license plate.

But they put out bowls of food, even build houses, and the result is scruffy looking feral cats running around killing songbirds and breeding more feral cats. Definitely unacceptable! Yet most get away with it. Some of these cathouses are in or near parks, so even more danger to birds. But what you're doing? I approve.

The caller didn't identify himself and the connection might not have been clear because my friend didn't immediately recognize the voice. "Who is this?" "It's your brother, stupid." And so when she introduced her brothers to people, she would say "This is my brother Roy and this is my brother Stupid."

@cmconseils@mastodon.social The same principle applies to malfunctioning office equipment. I try five times to make a photocopy. Each time the copier jams. I call tech support and when the technician arrives the copier works perfectly. I even had the opportunity to test this theory when working as an administrative specialist in an IT department. Sometimes if the technicians were busy I'd do a little "tech lite." Yeah, about a third of the time a balky copier or printer would work when I arrived.

(I'm only about a year and a half older.) I can't remember when I've been so wrong! It's not that I don't want to, and there have been a few older candidates I've liked.... But I rarely have an option to vote for someone younger, or even barely older than my mid-60s.

Every Fediverse user who saw it recognized it immediately, including me. With the same "What the what?" reaction you just had. Threats of lawsuits forced some modifications.
