@matildalove@wetdry.world to properly signal to a USB-C powersupply "I want to be fed 5V please" you need to connect 2 pins to ground through 5.1kOhm resistors. Some device designers don't pay attention and connect those two pins together and then to ground through 1 resistor, or skip them entirely. That will work if you use a dumb power adapter that doesn't check those (e.g. an old USB-A one and a A-to-C cable), but not with a better charger.

@matildalove@wetdry.world This adapter probably just implements these two resistors and doesn't connect these 2 pins to the downstream device, so any power adapter will read it as "output 5V" and it'll work.

@benny es sollte begrüßt werden wenn eine CA ihre Verpflichtungen auch wenn es unpraktisch ist ernst nimmt und nicht mit wilden Theorien rumgezwinkert werden. Gibt genug andere CAs die jetzt erstmal 2 Monate diskutieren würden dass ja nix passiert ist und die Regeln dann ja nicht gelten.

@CleefHanger all tags.pub does is boost posts with the matching tag, automatically if someone starts following it. It doesn't copy content, nobody involved with it makes decisions what to include. It's main uses are a) seeing more posts with a tag if you are on a small instance and b) being able to sort posts with a hashtag into lists, which stock Mastodon can't do.

@CurlyParakeet the inverters only supply power if they recognize they are connected to the grid and need to turn off immediately if disconnected (so if you unplug it there is no power on the plug and its safe to touch) and the power limit is chosen so legally compliant wiring won't be overloaded by accident. And then a lot of standardization process to create the rules making this actually legal.

@benny Klar ist die Ursache am Ende ein Fehler der CA. Aber wenn die sich sonst korrekt verhält ist "revocation in 5 Tagen" das was sie tun muss sobald sie das Problem erkennt. Was mir an den Berichten noch nicht klar ob die Information tatsächlich erst heute rausging an die Kunden oder ob BSI-Pressemitteilung und Presse merkts erst heute passiert ist. Wenn ersteres ist das ein Problem, das hätte Donnerstag morgen die Kunden erreichen müssen.

@fsteiner hm, fair, 5 Tage nach dem Post wäre Dienstag, nicht Montag, was bedeuten würde dass sie die Entscheidung dass es ein Problem ist schon Mittwoch hatten wenn es Montag sein muss. (Die exakte Formulierung ist "The CA is made aware that the Certificate was not issued in accordance with these Requirements " für den Zeitpunkt wo die 5 Tage anfangen zu laufen) Habt ihr es über das BSI gesehen oder Infos von einem betroffenen Admin bekommen wann genau es kommuniziert wurde?

Da bezog ich mich spezifisch auf die Formulierng "warum trotz angeblich fehlender Auswirkungen auf die Sicherheit das ostermontagliche Zurückrufen nötig sei": Die Requirements sagen 5 Tage, auch wenn 0 Auswirkungen auf die Sicherheit. Revocation ist immer binnen ein paar Tagen, oder wenn ganz schlimm 24h.
