But for me unknown reasons some old timers have to comment unfriendly for recurring topics when they are irritated. I agree that it is irritating to see same topics often, but hey that is the nature of community forums. People come at different points of time and can put X amount effort to study the subject beforehand. If post irritates people, they should ignore it imo. Of course some new comers have been rude too.

@t0maz @kallekn @skersis Jolla has publicly said that there are no connections to Ruzzia what-so-ever. Jolla started leaving Ruz in 2021 and 2023 they filed for bankruptcy as Ruz owner (at peak ~20% ownership) didn't want to sell. As the company was mostly in Finnish ownership at that point, Finnish court ordered to sell the immaterial rights to another company. Management of Jolla with Finnish investors bought the immaterial rights to new company and the Ruz saga ended finally.

There is workaround in the forum, but unfortunately I don't have time currently to try it out... so this one might be the one which can be used with additional tricks or in worst case no-go :/

@s1m0n4@ohai.social @jolla@techhub.social I haven't heard about that one before and it seems that nobody has yet reported it to the sailfishos.app/ site either. I'm quite swamped so can't promise full test soon, but I try to remember try if it launches without problem. You can try to ask forum.sailfishos.org if anybody has tried. Is that like EU level ID card?

@s1m0n4@ohai.social @jolla@techhub.social It is pretty true statement for those phones that are supported by Jolla. Community ports don't have Android App Support (=AAS). 99% can be true as there are so many Android apps, but in my experience around 90% works out of the box or with minimal tricks. 95-98% of apps might start to work with tricks or with limited features. Bank and or governmental apps are the worst ones and usually hit or miss. I have 5 working bank/finance apps tho. Ask me anything you want

@rubdos@mastodon.social I would also like to mention Yottagram! To my knowledge, currently only native messaging app which have functioning voice call. Also I think it is quite equal in feature wise to the native app minus the video call. Including all emojis, reactions and ”small” stuff. My favorite and most used apps are Whisperfish, Yottagram, Tooter, Dee (lemmy client), Quickddit, FoilAuth and Bitsailor. Of course I have found other stunning apps also, like Petals, ColorTubes and CountryQuiz. Thanks you!

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @hlrx@social.sneak.ovh That is false claim. They announced leaving Russia already in 2021 and seized operations there. But in two years they couldn't find anyone to buy Russians out so 2023 they just run the company to bankruptcy to finally get them out.

@t0maz @ItsePerkele @kallekn @skersis I think not that many companies, which aren't listed ones, don't specify publicly who are the actual owners. Usually I think this information is released by press etc. as they have to give that information. I don't know what is the reasoning behind this, but I have noticed this pattern when looking about other companies also. Could it be that not all of investors want to presented publicly in the website etc? But definitely would be good to be transparent

@t0maz @kallekn @skersis IIRC, as they are Oy, that means the ownership information should be presented when asked. But that would require some journalist etc. to actually going to their head quarter and ask for that. Didn't have time now to search all the press releases, but I remember it has been talked about somewhere.

@t0maz @ItsePerkele @kallekn @skersis 2023 the old company was filed to bankruptcy. After that the management created new company, which bought the immaterial rights. At least in the Finnish press it was stated that the new company was as a whole under Finnish ownership. If I remember right, in later date given statement they said company is under mostly Finnish ownership and as a whole under European ownership (hinting some European investor). I might miss remember, so make own research also

@skersis @ItsePerkele So I can assure you, Jolla is not Ruzzian, whole operating system is and was developed in Finland (well part of it in US probably, as Intel was partner with Nokia for Meego). The operating system were NOT developed in Ruzzia or in co-operation with Ruzzia. Reason Jolla ever went to Ruzzia was that there were no interest of independent OS inside Europe which led to financial constrains. Luckily times have changed

@RWvanLeeuwen @jolla Check the forum, they updated regularly there. Short answer, depends a lot in which batch you are in. Doesn't help that there are ton of people DDoS their email. Patience is needed here

@soulchainer @jolla I think the shop platform takes care of payment processing so it doesn't need manual work. Jolla is small team and I don't think they have specific customer support team. I kind of like how they put all possible resources for development but it back fires in case you would need response quickly.... Hopefully customer care gets better in the future!

Vaikka joitain Suomalaisia olikin mukana Ruotsin seikkailuilla, ei se oikeuta raiskaamaan lapsia, murhaamaan heitä vanhempiensa edessä ja suorittamaan poltetunmaan taktiikkaa Suomalaisia kohtaan. Minulle tärkeintä on, että Suomessa ei jouduta enää kohtaamaan moisia raakuuksia. Nämä raakuudet kun on järjestäen Venäläisten suorittamia historias.

Jos naapurin tiedetään olevan väkivaltainen joka murhaten valtaa naapurien koteja, niin en itse ainakaan halua vaan vetää paljasta rintaa esiin mihin voi veitsen lyödä. Se ettei rajoiteta puolustusta ei tarkoita että tekisimme samoja pahuuksia. Taitaa isoimpana kyseisessä pykälässä olla että voiko Suomen alueen kautta kuljettaa ydinaseita? Eli voidaanko harjoitella muiden kanssa yms hyödyllistä

They so should hire someone just for answering emails, tickets, keeping website up to date, writing blogs or something to inform everyone outside the forum etc. Definitely room for improvement there. But still, amazing that you initially jumped on ship and decided to support. I think that was brave move and you definitely have right to decide also jump off the ship. Kind of real effect of things company did and didn't do, which hopefully helps them improve

Mutta kyllä väitän kyseisen professorin harrastavan aika mielikuvituksellista historian tulkintaa, jos sivuutetaan kaikki dokumentoinnit venäläisten hirveyksistä esim pienen- ja isovihan aikaan sillä ettei venäläiset edes oikeasti koskaan hyökänneet. "Nälkä ja taudit tappoivat", jepjep. Ukrainassakin varmaan kuollaan "nälkään ja taiteihin" ja venäläiset koittavat vaan auttaa.... Mutta ei meidän tarvitse näistä enempää puhua, kaikkea hyvää sinne kuitenkin!

@Mehrad@fosstodon.org They have developed the SFOS quite well in co-operation with community imo. As we can see basically whole core is open source, expect UI bits. Proprietary apps I never understood, but luckily they have said to open source those. So much in those that could be improved, didn't understand why not allow contributions.

@khm @jolla In the news it was put that "four COMMERCIAL mobile operating systems in the world". And to be fair I think that is true. OS needs to be commercial if it wants to become option for wide masses and not only for niche very tech oriented people, IMO.

@soulchainer @jolla Yea, banking apps are quite hit or miss with all custom ROMs. Seems to be a little bit country specific, I have 5 financial apps working without problems (Finland), but some don't seem to have single working bank in their country. Browser it is own topic... Very easy problem to mitigate with android browser, but up-to-date native browser would be much nicer. It is enormous task to update the browser so I kind of prefer them focusing other areas, but this would need solution

@soulchainer @jolla Thanks for the answer! Definitely understandable. For me the forum is very good communication channel as I look it quite often anyway. Or community meeting logs. But I definitely understand that there should have been better communication for this phone as there will be so many new comers joining. Communication kind of kept it's old form which was okay for old community members. I definitely hope Jolla could hire someone for the communication part who also good write blog etc
