Deep in the edit of my #Jolla Phone 2 review. Sooooon (TM). #SailfishOS
Someone made a really great, native Sailfish OS app for Immich and it inspired me to finally get it set up on my home server. Really handy for automatic photo and video backup! Immich and this app are really great pieces of kit. #JollaPhone #SailfishOS

@siddharth_s@techhub.social I couldn't make a review any other way. Had to decide that I'll make a dedicated video on Sailfish OS otherwise the main video would probably have been an hour long

@nobodyinperson@fosstodon.org Yea, ultrawide aside the sensors are _fine_, not award-winning but I don't think (hope) anyone was expecting that. So hopefully the new Jolla Phone will continue to sell well and they'll be able to invest that extra cash into a bunch of areas of Sailfish OS.
Still would take cameras being mid and all the freedom I get with SFOS over having S-tier cameras but no real control over my device!
Test shots with the Helios 44 at f/2 (snails) and f/2.8 (dandelion and tree). Absolutely love the bokeh and swirl! I mean, that is half the reason why I and everyone else gets the lens after all... #photography
The beauty that is the Helios 44 has arrived (44-3 variant). Just waiting for my M42-RF adapter! #photography #vintage
I wish more buildings looked as quirky and colorful as those near Pikku Huopalahti Park.
Test shots on my Canon R50 with a Helios 44-3 lens.

Breaking news: Going to try streaming to @MakerTube@mastodon.social (PeerTube instance) at the same time. They were very kind in accepting a @buddiesofbudgie@floss.social account so I could upload videos there without a quota (don't worry, I'm supporting via Patreon!) and will see how the livestreaming works out.

@hlrx@social.sneak.ovh I don't have a personal PeerTube account, I do have a @MakerTube@mastodon.social account for Buddies of Budgie, but I'll see about requesting an account tomorrow and throwing a few more euros at them, that way it can be on PeerTube too.
Replying to
@MakerTube@mastodon.social That is very reasonable pricing. Personally already a 10e/mo "Federation Friend" member on the Patreon to support the hosting of @buddiesofbudgie@floss.social videos on MakerTube, 250GB at that price point is overkill for my current needs but happy if it helps subsidize hosting others too in the meantime 🙂

@BryanGreyson @protonprivacy At the very least, one of my devices is on Proton Mail 7.9.5 (16929) and another is on 7.9.6 (16983) on Android. Both continue to work after enabling PQC.

Unfortunately, doesn't seem to support AV1, so it was coming through as audio-only. Stopping the stream to switch it to NVENC H.264 for the second encoder stopped the live session, so RIP. We'll give this a go again next time!

@jolla@techhub.social Congrats on the partnership. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
ngl I am a bit sad there is no Framework printer

Continued off stream but will see about having another stream this week :)

Hoping to keep the stream under 3 hours today, but we'll see how it goes!

I've been wanting to plan and push out content for my personal channel, but I'm aware that plenty of subscribers came for Budgie content rather than...well some of my side projects and interests (Jolla / Sailfish OS, AI, etc.). So I'm "un-painting" myself out of that corner by moving the Budgie content over.

@AerynOS@hachyderm.io Yep, the work never ends, because none of us will ever be satisfied with the status quo.
Keep up the great work, great seeing how AerynOS evolves.

Huge queue of hundreds of attendees that wrapped around the square for the #Jolla Phone 2 Launch Day event.

Saw myself on the big screen in the center. Apparently I was also in the airport, around Helsinki, and videos pre-installed on the J2.
Only two days until the #Jolla Phone Day1 launch event!
Looking forward to the device, not quite looking forward to moving all my apps over 😁

@plotters@fosstodon.org The instrument is a kantele. Didn't catch the name of the fella but you're welcome to yoink the image and see if any reverse image pulls up a result.
Not bad for just a bit over a day across YouTube and MakerTube! Especially given how rarely I post content 😄

With any luck, might also backport it to Fedora 44. No promises on that one though!
For the last week or so, I have been secretly cooking up a big change for Budgie Desktop View for the upcoming #Budgie Desktop 10.10.3 release.
Arbitrary desktop icon positioning is finally arriving!

It seems very much in the spirit of the Sailfish OS community that someone would take apart their Jolla Phone 2 live on the terrace of the venue. Successful teardown and rebuilt, fortunately for them!
