Flagship fediverse servers are fundamental to the growth of our network. They don't shutdown without notice, and generally are more trusted and actively moderated and updated. I just suggested to the @Mastodon@mastodon.social team to implement Sign in with Apple/Google in their official mobile app. I think it would make a huge difference. Yes, it would centralize the fediverse more, but it would also bring a whole diverse new crowd here, to make a home on the most trusted and stable Mastodon server. Once they discover the fediverse, they could migrate to another server that better suits them. Only a matter of time, mark my words. 🚀 #Loops #Mastodon #SignInWithApple #Onboarding

RE: https://mastodon.social/@dansup/117020236807763073 I just wished that Apple supported something like the Google Play Install Referrer. This would enable deeplinked invites and onboarding, even if the app wasn't installed. I know you can get around this using a combination of a central service that tracks IP and OS, and matching that up after the app is installed, and several services like this exist, but I'd only feel comfortable doing this if we built our own that was open and self-hostable. #Fediverse #Discover #Onboarding

Discovery and finding your friends on the fediverse can be tricky. Either you upload your entire contact list to a central service (nope), or you leverage clever invite methods that people share out of band, to connect IRL people on the fediverse. Could be as simple as a special invite QR code or link your users can share anywhere, that when visited, onboard them and automatically follow the inviter. Loops is working on this!
