To put it quite bluntly: as long as there were no machines, programming was no problem at all; when we had a few weak computers, programming became a mild problem, and now we have gigantic computers, programming has become an equally gigantic problem. — Edsger Dijkstra, The Humble Programmer 1972 a very cool #rust blog https://without.boats/

@yayroos@tech.lgbt @pho4cexa@tiny.tilde.website no https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lie_algebra My interest in the metter is this Lie groups, the exponential map is a function that relates elements of a Lie algebra to the corresponding Lie group, specifically allowing for the exponentiation of matrices. For matrix Lie groups, the exponential map coincides with the matrix exponential, defined by the series expansion: exp(X) = I + X + (1/2)X² + (1/6)X³ + ..., where I is the identity matrix.

@gregeganSF on a lighter note sunrise time does not depend on gravitational lensing. Gravitational lensing is a phenomenon where massive objects like galaxies or black holes bend light from distant sources, but it does not affect the timing of sunrise. Sunrise times are primarily influenced by Earth's rotation, axial tilt, and your location on the planet. So noons like myself can still use newton's ( bisection) approximation to calculate the sunrise time with data Sad part #ai couldn't have told the former , so newer theories , calculations and instruments of scientific observation need go on for ai to have any reliability on its data ops , no matter how it scraps that . New Knowledge is the product of any value , without it data is just noise , and ai is only making an echo chamber for noises #science

Similar information density - if anything, 5.0.1 is more readable. The UI got redesigned a couple years back, but the spirit is still there. Same thing applies to virtually all programs for professionals. It's an exception to the rule: when redesigns happen, they're usually there for a reason, and rehash things in a more... thoughtful manner. This is a gem

But .... But library asks for fee , my tabs don't pick themselves , I am flesh and blood , I didn't even have a PC till I was 23 , my school never had it, but it educated me better than the so called best tech college of my country So yes I do use ai to skim faster than I can . @jonmsterling the means of this good Faith assumption is basically deductive proof/reasoning If premise of x is true so should be be x. But that alone being sufficient is also the foundation of Popper's falsificationism ( thanks to Hume , who brought the focus on the problem of induction, which in math is applicable to just integers?) , so an honest review can also end up concluding that a thesis document has been falsified The problem of deduction is relevant to various fields and issues. Epistemology tries to understand how justification is transferred from the belief in the premises to the belief in the conclusion in the process of deductive reasoning

Fixed Point Intersection or involution in #calculus ever wonder how #lambdacalculus handles such cases , plain vanilla lc doesn't butits fixed point combinator : a means to allow for recursive definitions. untyped lambda calculus, the function to apply the fixed-point combinator to may be expressed using an encoding, like Church encoding. In this case particular lambda terms (which define functions) are considered as values. "Running" (beta reducing) the fixed-point combinator on the encoding gives a lambda term for the result, which may then be interpreted as fixed-point value. In lambda calculus function (or term) is an implementation of a mathematical function. In the lambda calculus there are a number of combinators (implementations) that satisfy the mathematical definition of a fixed-point combinator. A combinator is a closed lambda expression, meaning that it has no free variables. The combinators may be combined to direct values to their correct places in the expression without ever naming them as variable

Does that mea. #mitlicense for #vibecoding ?
So let me get this right ,
#ai says "statistically" invent by "cheap" iteration (not induction) , where the base case is #generativeai and that defies the logic as zero cost is needed for public utility
How about ai builds some roads like that and drive a nation bankrupt ?

The pressure came from the fact that I had welded my sense of self to the project's success, and anything that threatened the project threatened me. A rude issue comment wasn't just feedback about code. It was someone questioning whether I deserved to exist in the space I'd carved out

Happy for you , very honest !

but the fact remains, that for finding a job you have to attach your identity to your work ( the prerequisite for proof of skills, esp for a dropout or even someone with low grades ) When you get one (job) it doesn't go away it comes in different names , policies, market conditions, management decisions, office politics , peer pressures , market fit, culture fit, local/remote social life , future security, ...
