Here's Valve's official statement regarding the "data breach". Some mobile phone numbers were exposed. Turns out the "2FA keys" were some one-time codes that were already useless at the time they were stolen.
tl;dr You do not need to change your password or anything else, it would not be of any more use then on any other day. Print bed leveling still is not automated enough to satisfy me. Even with ABL, you still always start with manual leveling because ABL will do a better job then, and manual leveling still relies on the "make nozzle touch sheet of paper" process which is just absolutely wild. Not the sheet of paper - the "touch" part of it. That is just zero reproducible. I want this pressure sensor to put below the nozzle that a Youtube made somewhen but I think it's no longer available.

I wanted to figure out if a dead battery this fast might be covered by warranty. In the confirmation for the extended warranty, they claim that everything will be "very easy" when I bought directly from #Fairphone. "Very easy" involves ten things you are required to try before they even look at your case, one of which is a factory reset, followed by two days without installing apps or restoring my data. wtf. Replacing the battery is 44 bucks and a 1 min repair, but the warranty is a joke, ok.

@karafuto@mas.to Ah yeah, the weird phenomenon of municipalities losing their memory of previous years. It's not like it's a lot better here. We don't get that much snow and ice, but when we do, you usually have to switch between sidewalk on the left and right side and the street every couple meters or take a risk.
And yeah, guess I should come in winter next time to see the other extreme! Just shouldn't rely on a tent then I guess haha.

I don't have beds with well visible reflections. A metal gauge might help with the fact that paper, in addition to being not super reliable, tends to rip and bend rather fast, so I can't even keep the one same paper around forever. The issue with metal gauges though is that then the nozzle might push the print bed down, once again removing any accuracy and reliability.
Well that was quite the spectacle for the last day of Lightning Returns. One WTF 🤦♂️moment but overall pretty good actually. Very welcome after I spent some time with some of the worse side quests and then decided to just skip ahead (you can go to sleep, which never makes sense unless you really don't have anything to do anymore). It's late and I saved the last fights for another night, but then it's finally over and I finished the Lightning trilogy after over 3 years.

@RYStorm@mastodon.gamedev.place the plausible deniability there probably being that your contact merely "unlocked" zip (it does not explicitly state he played it), which he probably did involuntarily because LinkedIn was programmed to unlock it for him. 🤮 But yeah, dark patterns 3000 and +100 on distrust. Distinction only in legal stuff probably, not in being shitty.
Hahahaha I still did not finish Lightning Returns. Took three attempts at the final boss, didn't beat it yet. Feels doable though and also the fight actually feels pretty good, unlike one of the optional bosses right before which just felt plain unfair and cost me way too many of my good healing items.
Also, the spectacle! Whoa! The ending clearly got more polishing than the beginning. Story coming together, fights going crazy, visuals delightful, fantastic music.

Yesterday's HanaCon came with unplanned 5 min of con crunch / stress: 10 min before I had to leave, a glued-on part of the gunblade fell off since the temporary bag is a little too small. Connected hot glue gun to power directly because I couldn't find the base fast enough, continued to get dressed while it heated, glued part back on, caught bus in time. What I did not have was my con ticket, but the friendly staff found a way to verify I actually paid for one and let me in. :)

@wildrikku@mastodon.gamedev.place Also, Lightning's armlet did not fall off even once this time! I had made it tighter and got it right, it was comfortable to wear but also stayed in place. Things like this are great. I still don't have a lot of cosplay experience, since I work so slowly and only started 2023 (ok, some people are judges by this time), but I can see progress in both the new parts for Faith and the overhauled parts of Lightning.
Hanacon in 13 h! I mostly go because it's local and to support friends, but I found a note I had buried under other stuff that said "fix Lightning's coat" and now the coat has an additional seam that prevents the foam I use as weight from popping out. I'm still amazed this works at all. There's an asymmetric piece of foam sewed into the bottom that makes the coat both stiff and fall in the right angle. Also, I like that unlike painting, sewing work is ready to use immediately when you're done.

Huh, so I guess since there will be new ice immediately, nobody bothers to ever remove it? Or is it harder?

@karafuto@mas.to Yeah, I slept in a tent and used an eye mask, too, it was fine. But I also noticed some people have a completely shifted or random day cycle, some will do outdoor work at 1 AM because what's time. I also heard people say they find the constant brightness harder to deal with than the constant darkness in winter.

I figured out something new with the gunblade: I don't actually need the safety pins to be metal nails. A piece of ABS filament is enough. It's not as stiff, but it prevents the thing from falling apart or out of position, at least in sword form. Hmm. I will think about this. Maybe this opens up new options so I can have a more elegant lock after all. (Either way, this is good, because nails are usually forbidden at cons.)

(I picked up #Homestuck again tonight, probably unconsciously inspired by a Homestuck cosplay entry at the Hanacon contest. Thankfully, I stopped at the first year recap.)
Seeing some pieces of Pragmata here and there and it looks like I might like it. I immediately liked the characters, too. For the last year or so I've often been overwhelmed by the amount of games I could play just because I already have them in my library, so I avoided looking at new games much, but Pragmata looks so fresh, I'll keep an eye on it.

I had colleagues who didn't understand that at all though... once I asked for part time and they were genuinely surprised as in, why would you want to work less? What would you do instead? And I didn't even know where to begin.
Not working at all is different though. I'm fine with returning to work after vacation etc - if not, it's time to switch jobs.

@marceles_pixel@mastodon.art Do not focus on distro. Focus on desktop (probably Gnome or KDE). Especially if you have a graphics tablet or something like that, figure out where that's well supported.
If you tend to buy new hardware, pick a distro that's rolling-release, those tend to have the newer drivers.

It made me feel warm and welcome and cozy first, then I took a closer look at the environment and wondered how it apparently was forgotten / left alone for a long time, but then this seemingly friendly and warm interaction felt even better since it might be the only one available.

@kwramm Damn yeah. I don't have personal experience, but this matches 100% what I took from Jason Schreier's "Blood, Sweat, and Pixels". Assuming what he writes is at least half real, I was shocked to see how unorganized big productions often are, how much they lack proper tools (or understanding of tools) and how many problems they face that I would not expect in a big company, even including the aforementioned lack of "clear vision".

Look who crawled out from under the stone, it's #Couchsurfing! I didn't even remember I had still subscribed to their blog (thanks feed readers). I had subscribed years ago because I wanted to see if they apologized for or explained their last dick move somewhen. There were no posts until yesterday, when they pulled their next dick move. Summary: You can login, click through their new onboarding with fake data, then export your data and delete your account, at least this much was done this time.

@yiningkarlli I think the in-universe explanation is, as always, that it would be too much trouble to make sure no muggles figure out that magic exists when taking such action. Also, not sure if Voldemort's location is well-known enough. Revealing his location could also lead to a lof of exposure for the wizard world. Not as thin as it seems, but still not great, I agree.
TIL that there is an international fireworks contest and I am currently seeing the Danish entry from my living room window. Wild. It's kinda far away, but it's LOUD. This is not the normal sound of fireworks you get to see at city festivals etc
The HanaCon cosplay contest tries to target all experience levels and specialties and they at least succeeded in attracting a very wild mix of characters and a lot of contestants!

Even if one does not think of the patient inside every time, I don't think it's hard to tolerate if you think about what's going on every so often. People endure a lot of much more frequent annoying noise for worse reasons.
