The amount of “Just don’t use YouTube!” replies are really reinforcing the Mastodon vibe of ‘But actually!’ which isn’t exactly friendly to new users. I could be off the grid with my own power source, only cooking homegrown food, weld together my own two cans for a telephone to my neighbour, and compile my own Linux kernel, but that isn’t helpful to the situation at hand and unrealistic for most folks, as annoying as you may find that.

It creates total distrust in LinkedIn and the folks who work there, because: What else are they lying to you about? What are they telling my connections, without telling me? It makes you think twice the next time you see anyone from LinkedIn at any conference, which is awful for them too!

Is LinkedIn also lying about post metrics? Are they lying about post interactions? Are they dangling LinkedIn premium in front of you, with fake engagement? Lying to your audience never works out, because now every single thing is second guessed.

And for what? Another useless metric for someone to get a bonus, instead of a good user experience?
