#Google is going to close down #Android platform, making installing "unverified" apps almost impossible for a regular user. This would completely kill #FDroid, something I rely on to get apps that don't track me, don't show me ads and don't try to exploit me. If you care about #FreeSoftware, you should care about this. That's probably gonna cut down your user base by a factor of a 1000 if you're talking causal users. Most will be scared by the "are you sure you want to burn your house down?" warnings. Sure, people who are in the know will survive, but there's multiple issues:

Google can tighten this slipknot further at any time if we give them any foot hold.
Other corporations will follow suit.

I am also going to take a deep look at my licensing choices and I'm probably going to back off from #CreativeCommons. I am not sure yet. If #Bandcamp turns out to be training generative "AI" or selling my music to companies like Suno, I am going to nuke my entire catalogue there and make my own store. Idea of making my intellectual goods accessible only via very "inconvenient" means is looking more and more reasonable by the day in these unreasonable times. I have to pay for my anti-depressants.

I want to thank everybody who have purchased my latest album because that really makes me think that maybe being an artist isn't a complete loss. I also want to encourage everyone to support their local artists and use any democratic power you have to push for changes in legislation to protect creatives. This Industrial Revolution is going to starve a lot of valuable people if we don't take action. And the computer-generated faximilies are never going to replace them... us... truly...

All my work on Liblast is halted due to a blocking freeze bug.

I have a live presentation and workshop coming up in 4 weeks that depends on this tech, and I can't do anything at the moment.

Good news! @liblast@mastodon.gamedev.place works on MX Linux on my desktop with AMD graphics, but not on Arch Linux on the same hardware... Why is beyond me, but I got many reports from others testing - it seems the game mostly works, so my presentation and workshop on #LibreGraphicsMeeting should commence as planned. I already sketeched some slides. It's gonna be tough fitting this in 20 minutes :D

Thank you all who tried to help, tested the #Godot bug (?), reported and shared good work. You're lifting my spirit.

My old laptop's replacement battery has attempted a self-ignition. I think it's time to start saving up for a new laptop. I'd love to have a #Framework 16. I just don't know if I can stand having a CPU with "AI" in it's name. A real mobile workstation would be sweet though. My current laptop can't play 4K video smoothly, lol.
It's possible if the #SteamFrame comes out first I might crack and get it instead. Running #ArchLinux on my face sounds like the apex.

I had a rare opportunity to do a little live show - I brought some gear - including a small-but-potent smoke machine and a projector. Had some fun making a simple scene in Godot that would be projected onto the smoke creating a simple colorful light show.

This was very spontaneous, I wasn't really prepared to do this, but I wanted to try at least.

Nobody was around for the real visual treat, but I had time to experiment myself and record some of that.

@Blort@social.tchncs.de Yes. That means learning how to progmran in GDScript. It's meant for people who have never programmed before, and want to make games with Godot. It seems that's a big pain point and a turnoff for new users, as we don't have any means of flattening the learning curve for them. And this project aims to solve that. Of course once you grasp the basics of programming using GDScript, it's easier to pick up other languages.

I made the game print out what display manager is used and it shows X11 every time ecen when I try to use Wayland, and despite my whole DE running on Wayland. I am not sure I can force Wayland on Godot at this point, or is the information from DisplayServer wrong.

They happened to decide to actually work on it, after they've done everything else. Maybe because they realized safety and security was abhorrent. Why else delay a product if you wouldn't expect into fail otherwise?

@nielso@digitalcourage.social So far reading Bandcamp's statement on the matter makes me feel safer. They absolutely disallow any machine-generated content on the website. No mention of training but it's implied they don't even consider that. I hope.
