@elizayer I agree, but I'm not sure that changes what we should do about it. Sometimes the highest leverage regulation point is the tool, not the behavior - e.g. guns or narcotics. Yes, we should also work to eliminate the reasons people turn to those things, but that's not mutually exclusive with short term solutions.

@inthehands@hachyderm.io My favorite part is the garden path repronunciation of "limericks" from 2 to 3 syllables only after I reread the poem.

@regehr@mastodon.social I feel the CS version is more "people I won't work with"

@beep@follow.ethanmarcotte.com @sboots@mastodon.sboots.ca This is perfect. I've been looking for something to share a summary of my views without having to write one myself. It contains a decent fraction of the harms caused by genAI without the judgment and objectivity of the spicier essays, which can hurt feelings and thus cause defensiveness rather than learning.

@timbray@cosocial.ca I'm torn. I'm a huge fan of the URL as a transparent representation of state (for bookmarking, sharing, and even just reading/editing in the location bar).
Sure, for big queries, the alternatives are POST (bad UI), POST-and-redirect (not bookmarkable/sharable unless you're careful), or AJAX (both). So QUERY is potentially a UX improvement. It also may be ripe for overuse, a degradation of what could've been GET pages.
But yeah, SDOs should be descriptive, not prescriptive.
