@pandora@chaos.social Better #alt4u: Two shots of an induction cooktop. Under the glass can be seen several oblong elements with diagonally-chamfered corners. The camera sensor picks these up as a medium-beige colour. At the front is a circuit board with what appears to be touch-sensors embedded under the glass.

look, you don't have to commit to anything. it takes weeks for the first bodily changes to show up — months for them to become irreversible. just take this little pill, once, and see how it feels.
if it's not right, you might feel uncomfortable for a few hours, and then you'll gain the confidence of knowing.
if it is right, you'll discover that you were never alone.

Two possibilities exist: either the AI builders believe their own bullshit or they do not. Both are equally terrifying.

@pandora@chaos.social no worries! it took me a couple of years to get good at identifying the things within a picture that need descriptions and then writing that in a succinct way. these days it's second-nature.

@bright_helpings@mspsocial.net no worries! I thought it was really interesting that they were a bunch of weird flat octagons, rather than the circular shape of the radiant-electric cooktops that were popular last decade.

@dansinker@omfg.town good story, but posting that photo without even marking the image as sensitive was …a choice…

@techokami image description:
3 panel comic. "how do computers work?"
panel 1, "computer scientist level: novice". a young creature stands in front of a whiteboard showing a child's drawing of a stick figure and a box. the creature excitedly says "it's magic!"
panel 2, "computer scientist level: expert". an adult creature stands in front of a whiteboard showing the truth table and schematic diagram of a full adder. the creature excitedly explains how adders can be chained together to add arbitrarily-large binary values.
panel 3, "computer science level: master". an apparently middle aged creature holding a coffee mug reading "everything's going great" stands in front of a whiteboard showing diagrams and formulae for electromagnetism. the creature tiredly says "it's magic".

@ErinInTheMorn@mstdn.social I would love to boost this, but there's no CW or hashtag at all which means my followers couldn't filter out bad news on their bad days.
I highly recommend it going forward, it'll help your reach on fedi _considerably_.
