@mntmn I use Ardour, Guitarix, and Hydrogen, all tied together with Jack. I've not used other OSs for music production, so can't really comment on what's missing.

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk Same with my accountancy body. On the whole, I think we should be using non-fictious numbers.

@ericsfraga @slowe TaxCalc has a Linux version. I used it when I had my own practice. I then moved to Iris Taxfiler, which was cloud based.

I enjoyed a few days of social media detox, whilst I accidentallly knocked my masto instance offline.
There was a point a couple of days ago I was sure I was going to have to provision a fresh instance....

@nicd@masto.ahlcode.fi I'd say yes. Here's a photo of an unused Shimano 32 I have. Yours looks like it has a bit of extra curve to it.

Here's my write-up of accidentally taking my Masto instance offline, then back on again.

That was a close one. Almost borked my Masto instance through not reading the upgrade instructions properly!

How much should we be paying for name your price albums on Bandcamp?
My going rate is normally £/$/€5, but I've no idea what the artist is really expecting.

@vernius@tkz.one @brunty@brunty.social @ruari@velocipederider.com No shame in that. Most of mine are inexpensive.

My daughter wants to pick up creating a website again. I initally showed her some html a couple of years ago, but she struggled a bit. It required a lot of me telling her what to do.
Ideally, I'd like to not have to supervise the entire time. Are there any tools or suggestions out there?

> Recent genomic studies indicate that all non–sub-Saharan African populations, including present-day Aboriginal Australians, carry Neanderthal DNA acquired through a single interbreeding event in Europe between approximately 51.5 and 43.5 thousand years ago.
I like the characterisation of a "single interbreeding event"

Looking at taking my son for a day out. I think he'd like to go on the train. For a 30min journey to York is £50 return for the two of us. Driving would cost half that amount.
Train costs in the UK are really dumb.

Nevermind banning under 16s from social media. How about we ban EVERYONE from commenting on news articles?
Clearly, only the most unhinged people around do it.

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk No need for you to apologies. Unless it was you were being a careless driver, a long way from home.

@mttaggart@infosec.exchange I was reading a pro-AI blogpost where the writer ended up submitting a 3200 word prompt, which resulted in a checklist for some activity which could easily be achieved another way. Absolute madness.

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk If it's any consolation, I got cross at a driver yesterday whilst walking the kids to school.

I like Bandcamp, but buying multiple items is rubbish. Just had my card blocked because I checked out 4 times, which was obviously suspicious.

Shortly, I will be recruiting for a Netsuite developer. Whilst Suitescript experience would be ideal, I'm sure a decent Javascript dev would have no problems. I'll share the application link when it's live.
It'd be UK remote, and no-AI!

Trying to upgrade my masto instance from 4.3.22 is turning out to be a right bastard of circular dependencies.
