Today is the #SystemAdministrator Appreciation Day! 🥳 https://sysadminday.com Use this yearly chance to thank your #SysAdmin for her/his work: running #computers, jam-free #printers, and secure #networks. Think about a gift: cake, ice cream, cookies and brownies, gadgets, t-shirts, etc. Happy #SysAdminDay and thanks to our IT departments!

#FacialRecognition is a serious threat to #privacy, #FreeSpeech and entails means of #discrimination. As an artists, we should refuse to performe at places insecured by this technology. As a venue, it's your responsibility to keep it out of your #SecurityConcept. https://www.banfacialrecognition.com/venues And as a fan, one should support the #FacialRecognitionBan. https://www.banfacialrecognition.com

@Daojoan@mastodon.social I wouldn't write an essay on why someone should work for me, but I also wouldn't want to start a company. Commercial environments filled with people hungry for fame and money bore me. 😒 From my experience in academic research, however, I know professors with whom collaboration is difficult. But most colleagues, staff, and students ultimately become yes-men. Even if they are exploited, harassed, or undermined. 😬 I've learned the hard way that openness and transparency aren't always appreciated, even when you point out problems with unscientific approaches in a master's student's methodology and she replies, “But that’s just how I like to do it.” 🙄
