My parents watched the Apollo missions, now I get the watch Artemis II take humans Moon-wards myself.
Feels like a special moment. Certainly nice to be watching a positive moment in history unfold.

Nice to wake up this morning and hear the Artemis II crew successfully travelled around the Moon. I caught some of the live stream last night as they were approaching and describing the lunar features, fascinating to witness.
I was really struck by the image of the crescent Earth against the Moon. Seeing our own planet as mere speck beside another celestial body is a bit of perspective I think we all need.

@metin From what I’ve gathered, they are detecting installed Chrome browser extensions, not locally installed software. For a minute I thought there was some horrible new browser API that was exposing that.
Harvesting extension data still isn’t great, but it does beg the question why Chrome browsers allow that in the first place.
Playing through Pokemon Emerald, and just faced Tate and Liza. Their Claydol with Earthquake was giving me some grief, so I thought I would switch in Magneton. Because the big ball of floating magnets has Levitate, right?
One more Earthquake later and I was quickly reminded the big ball of floating magnets does *not* in fact have Levitate…🤦♀️

Got the chance to visit the Pokemon pop-up shop and mini exhibit at the Natural History Museum in London today. It featured a small display of artwork from the upcoming Pokemon Ecology book, a bunch of merch, and a rather cute diorama.
Surprised they didn't bring back the palaeontologist Pikachu for an event at a museum full of dinosaurs.

A modern take on it would be a fun device, especially with the plethora of wireless connectivity options available now. Being stuck with IrDA and wired modems was one of the bigger limitations of the original devices.

In a rare bit of good news for the UK, according to The Times, Starmer is u-turning on the compulsory aspect of the Digital ID scheme. It will now be an optional system.
Still unknown whether it's now optional for Starmer to keep burning political capital on ill-considered policies.

@ZenHeathen @dadbod I recently jailbroke an old Kindle 4 and installed KOReader. It’s given it a whole new lease of life and made it more versatile, with ePub and CBZ support. The jailbrake process also enabled support for custom wallpapers.

@wonshu@mastodon.social I currently run Debian & KDE on my 2011 Thinkpad, and I’ve been happy with it so far. The default Debian install is fairly minimal, and it’s ultra stable so it’s a machine I can always rely on.
DE probably matters more than distro for resource usage. Modern KDE is surprisingly resource efficient while still feeling full featured. I used to prefer XFCE for lower end systems.

So many of the use cases I see for AI boil down to using it to handle unnecessary over complication.
We could also solve those problems by just not doing them.
