The Fury 🐧💻❗️🔥

@catsalad@infosec.exchange beats the Furminator brush every time!

@pluralistic@mamot.fr aside from main point that politicians need to learn when to step down and let the next generation take over, a good reminder to us all to think about making sure our affairs are in order before we die. Also, so happy to hear you're cancer-free! Congrats!

@mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io broke my heart seeing this article earlier today and thinking, "well, the US should jump on this but probably won't" and then noticing this article was 13 years old and finding out I was already right.

@St1ka@peoplemaking.games I'm very lucky to be able to work from home for the last few years and will ride that train until I die (cause I probably won't be able to afford retirement here in the US) or get get fired and replaced with AI . I don't miss working in an office, lol.

@St1ka@peoplemaking.games Arkham Knight seems better over 10 years later at least...I got it working on Bazzite with no problems, lol.

@dtgeek@mastodon.social hopefully this keeps up and the bubble will finally pop. Then we can all get cheap(er) GPU, RAM and SSDs again.

@Oregon_Pacifist@retro-gaiden.com Me: "Hah you all laughed at me for getting a Virtual Boy" Them: "Why did your stand break not long after you got it?" "Name a great game other than Wario Land." "Didn't you get neck surgery?" "Don't you have to keep fixing the lenses?" Me: "...shut up." I still love my VB, though...

@St1ka@peoplemaking.games lolol somehow that makes me feel better there are still people out there doing work and making mistakes on their own. Honestly very refreshing lol.

@SwiftOnSecurity I heard the Teams call ring in a hardware store once and went into the fetal position because I thought someone at work was calling me on my work phone and needed a full system restore again

@catsalad@infosec.exchange cutie ball in the side pocket

@pluralistic me counting down the days to when this all can come to pass:

@nixCraft another reason I'm not going to leave my current job until I retire or die (probably the latter). :blobdead:

@tlapka "does any part of your body hurt for no good reason?"

@pluralistic@mamot.fr me in the US, waiting for Canada to pull the trigger on cutting US tech loose:

@SuperSelena64@hachyderm.io THE SOUL STILL BURNS

@St1ka@peoplemaking.games uhh that's just a bad AI translation, right? Lol

@neineon77@transfem.social I jailbreak anything and everything I can.

Damn. Wai Ching Ho died recently too. I remember her powerfull presence in Netflix's Daredevil. #RIPWaiChingHo

@catsalad@infosec.exchange that's not unique. All cats have this ability. My cats do it to me all the time. Must...get...cats...more...treats...

So I did manage to score a copy of the #nintendoswitch version of #metalgearsolidmastercollectionvol2 at a local #gamestop after not finding at one (even though the website said it was in stock), but the manager was nice enough to contact another store and hold it for us.

Oof. Is #sony just begging us to pirate? I already had a low enough opinion of them to just run emulators off my PC come "we have no physical games, fuck off" day, but maybe I can just push that up? https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstations-digital-only-future-makes-sonys-dynamic-pricing-harder-to-ignore/

When you've done 17 hours of work, part of which consisting of two outages and it's only Monday. #sysadmin #sysadminlife

Some #fyi stuff: as of launch day anyways, #metalgearsolid4 will not auto-download when you put in your cart and select the game. You need to manually download it. You need to do this as well to get the latest updates for #metalgearsolidpeacewalker and the #metalgearsolidmastercollectionvol2bonusmaterial. Also, even though there is a grayed out option for the Japanese language pack in #mgs4, if you go to the download menu, it will prompt for going to the eshop to download the language pack, but then nothing happens. I can confirm my internet works and I can access the eshop on both my original Switch and my wife's OLED model. The digital version of #mgs4 also lists Japanese as a supported language. Anyone know what gives? Did Konami forget to add a link to that OK prompt or something?

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social "we're gonna put up a wall to keep the bad air out and Canada is gonna pay for it!"

@repeatro@mastodon.social I still have the PS2 version, the biggest advantage over the PSP version to me is the controls mapped to the PS2 controller that makes it less cumbersome than the PSP version.

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social The Onion almost got me again cause I swear I could hear/watch this snippet of a "podcast" and think "dear God, they're 100% serious."

On the plus side: I haven't finished chapter 1 yet and have only tried handheld mode, but #metalgearsolid4 on #nintendoswitch runs great. I haven't noticed any bugs or any stuttering either. I was very weary about how #mgs4 was going to run on the weakest hardware of all the releases, but so far I am pleasantly surprised. If this is the same team at #konami that patched up #metalgearsolidmastercollectionvol1, they must have really cut their teeth on volume 1 enough to get it right out of the gate for volume 2.

Looking at my modern game library:

Switch:

Mostly-

• Older console games I can play on the go and are on physical carts

• Indy games that I can play on the go and I paid more for so I could have it on a physical cart

And most of the Zelda games released on it. Pretty much the only 1st party Nintendo games I have.

PS5:

Pretty much just-

• Some AAA or AA games I bought because they were too beefy for and therefore not available for the Switch and they were still on a disc, otherwise I could have gotten them all from Steam or GoG

PC (Steam, GoG):

• Rare PC exclusives I was into (maybe just Ex-Zodiac), duplicates of the PS5 games that were on sale for real cheap
