Cared for my wife from 2017-23. Alzheimer's is terminal, progressive, and devastating for all concerned. J now lives in 24/7 care. 😭

While dying, dad told us his dad & gran were Aboriginal, calling his grandparents a combo - an illegal mixed couple. Who knew? Not me. True? No idea. Yet. I toot as a white man, & benefit from the privilege that brings in Australia. I live on Darug land.

I follow people, but get a little confused when people follow me.🤷‍♂️

More positively, it was a great ride, apart from the stupid crash & blood. Lots of water bars for jumping—one jump was 7.81m with a hangtime of 0.74s! One of my biggest, for sure! You better believed I whooped & hollered! Possibly providing an *idiot coming* alert to the riders grinding slowly up just around the next corner🙄😂 23km 1hr10 Ascent 843m 1/2 #eMTB#eBike#BlueMountains

Another glorious day. I rode Linden Ridge (no. 2) firetrail, & explored some singletrack. The firetrail is up & down, out & back, lots of water bars for jumping. The singletrack was very slow, overgrown, & occasionally blocked by fallen trees, disappearing after 2.5km in a rocky clearing. I've ridden this track years ago, but recall it ended much earlier. I left it a bit late to also do the Mt Twiss singletrack. Total 34.5km, 1hr50 Ascent 760m #eMTB #eBike #BlueMountains

It occurs to me I've been procrastinating about termite damage for 15y+. It was discovered well before I was made redundant^^early retired 11y ago. I had reasons, good ones, but I always do, don't I?🤷🙄 So far: ✅: the house isn't falling down. Sagging, but who isn't? ❌: the house isn't falling down. I was on a run, I could have procrastinated for Australia! ❌: now I have to keep going. I can't live with wall linings off. ✅: now I have to keep going. #MentalHealth #TermiteRepairs

The first flowers are appearing on the frangipani! I took it from my mother-in-law's before it was sold—back in 2020. As she'd instructed years before, I snapped a piece off, stuck it in dirt to "seal", then a pot.

Nothing at all for 3y. The tip was dead. Then suddenly leaves! Only little ones, but each year it got a little bigger. Still nothing much.

6mths after potting into a huge pot, it's grown 60+cm, has big leaves, branches, & flowers are coming. Thanks L. 🙂

I'm watching Adventures of the Super Monkey—Journey to the West, on Netflix. It's a Japanese show based on the famous Chinese story, & naturally, supposedly set in China. Just before the end credits in S1:E3 roll up...& hang on a minute... [rewinds] surely not... [rewinds] Are they gums? Is that Blueys sandstone? [rewinds] I know that view! That's...that's the now closed Lincoln Rock in Wentworth Falls, just up the road. WTF?

Not again? Yes, but different. Today I rode Snaitches, (St H, St Helena firetrail) to Lost World & Bunyan lookouts. St H runs off the Oaks & is an out and back ride. A thru hike a bike is possible, but NPWS asked us not to ride that section, so I don't. Besides, it's a bastard climb out carrying a light bike, let alone a heavy eMTB.

Mostly little used, narrow firetrail, it changes to dual track towards the end, then very overgrown singletrack to the lookouts. 1/2

Unharm advise (not yet on website) the NSW MC driving reform has cleared Parliament & will *become* law. A flawed improvement. All details TBC. IANAL. Don't drive impaired. Con: must register 😒 Presence tests continue There's no advice (yet) on what intake level will end in test failure, as we have with alcohol. Cautions? Pro: *if* unimpaired & below 50ng/ml, *exempt* from the presence test. I have read current testing detects to 5ng/ml, if so, a significant change. #MedicalCannabisNSW

RE: https://social.chinwag.org/@abc_bot/117288563071933422 What size ute? I'm guessing not a twin cab. Yes, this is a shitpost about utes, but it's potentially a good idea. I live in a flame zone, & often consider getting a fire*proof* bunker (not resistant) for storage & last resort refuge, but let's face it, I'll be evacuating & relying on insurance. OTOH, tiny houses would allow me to easily continue living here while rebuilding if a fire destroys the house. Of course, the fire risk will be minimal for a few years if everything burns. #shitpost

A nice day at Barangaroo today with sons and a gf. Good food, but the restaurant was oppressively loud. Conversations, not dickheads. I took my hearing aids out, because I could only hear other conversations, not ours. We moved outside, & I genuinely felt the weight of all those conversations leaving my shoulders. Inside, ugh, weighed down, not coping, outside, weight gone, enjoyed lunch, could hear the others. I was staggered by how much happier I felt outside, away from the noise. Shocked.

Ooh... @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org, this comparison between a modern downhill mountain bike, an eMTB, & a Cannondale almost as old as yours just popped up in my YouTube feed. Not long after I was musing on the same idea. 😁 Sam Pilgrim, legendary mtb racer & nutcase takes them all on a timed run downhill. Can the old bike win? It certainly looks *exciting!* https://youtu.be/RUpwRYH_3jc #mtb #eMTB#VintageMTB

Disappointingly, I couldn't find any trace of e-skateboards, & needed my own helmet to test a moto (FTN & scooters). However I tried electric legs. 🤔 They feel odd, but make walking much easier. So much so, as I walked away, my legs were lead, unable to be lifted at all. I can never walk again! 😂 Stairs like Federal Pass at Katoomba would be so easy! Lots of old blokes *very* happily *running* in them... Their fancy model might even help dicky knees & hips (not tested). #EverythingElectric

@backupbear Analogue may well be purer, but my ears think digital formats sound better. I can only judge by my own ears. 🤷 Albums. 40mins of the same musicians, an artistic theme, cover notes. A slower listen. More time to get into it. Today, my *better sounding* music playlist randomly jumps genres, generations, & styles. Fast—next! Which is better depends on my mood. TBH,I usually choose random, but occasionally, for a good relax, albums.
