A simple reminder: if you don't want to hit the pothole, just don't hit the pothole. Stop the violence.
Trying to leave things in better shape than how I found them. (BTW, "mastodon" means "nipply teeth." Look it up.)
#JerseyCity #Catskill #movies #scifi #narratives #transportation #policy #education #OldStuff #cooking #food #archery #dogs #shitposting
But the greatest of these is #shitposting

LOL so the "CBGB Festival" next weekend will include a performance by "the Sex Pistols."
Tickets for the whole day are $179.
If you buy the $349.99 VIP ticket (Very Important Punk) there are perks, such as "Specialty food & drink options, including punk-inspired shot & beer specials, curated for VIP only."
Don't even think about the $799 VVIP—Punk Royalty tickets because they are SOLD OUT.
Speaking of "sold out" . . . everyone involved has. 🤣

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org As a former radio DJ who—with some peers—had to preview all the tracks of all the records that were sent to the station in order to vote and pick out the "Beat of the Week," I learned NEVER to give up on an album without sampling at least some part of all the tracks.
We had a system. We could even tell the tempo of various parts of a song simply by looking at how the light hit the grooves in the LP. Fun times.

The anti-disco backlash in late 1970s was 100% homophobia (with a good dose of racism thrown in). I was there, I saw it happen.
Donna Summer is a queen.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I like 8 tracks because of continuous play. (I once left Yes: Close to the Edge playing for an entire weekend in my room, even as I slept, at low volume. It never stopped.)
I have also been told that it is better sound quality than cassette because of the wider tape.

I was a DJ when Bronski Beat put out their cover—I gave it airplay, because it was good, but yeah it's not the same.

Also: Added "Braut"—his mother's surname—to his jersey to honor her side of the family.
Haaland has been one of the bright spots in the otherwise racist, corrupt, and quite frankly somewhat depressing enterprise known as the World Cup.

"Not liking disco" means you don't buy the albums, don't go dancing in discos. People who "dislike disco" don't do this, only moral panic people do this:

[me, waking in the middle of the night]: Do you smell roasting coffee?
[spouse]: I smell skunk.
Fam, this is what COVID did to me. Five years later, my sense of smell is totally rewritten.

Just a reminder, as you crank that AC and try to avoid wildfire smoke, energy costs continue to soar in the United States—and the Trump administration is making moves that will only make our petroleum-based energy grid even more expensive and more damaging to the environment.

@CStamp@mastodon.social Yup. This is helpful:
"Scientists have counted at least 1,000 toxins in wildfire smoke, according to Colorado State University environmental toxicologist Luke Montrose.
“'If I gave you a list, you would recognize some of these as being very bad, oftentimes associated with the burning of diesel fuel or cigarette smoke, things like formaldehyde or volatile organic compounds,' Montrose said. 'So just the smoke itself can be bad.'”

I am right-handed, but I use a computer mouse with my left hand. Why? Well, nearly thirty years ago, I took a second job doing freelance editing, and the constant mouse usage was giving me carpal tunnel syndrome. So I started using my left (uninjured) hand at work, and my (compromised) right hand for the shorter stints of freelancing.
Balance the load, so to speak.
Well, I now use a laptop with trackpad at home, no mouse. But I still use my left hand in the office. Right hand feels weird.
