Would you just shrug and stop making it? This is at best cowardice. Also, I find the fait accompli argumentation on the PR (“we already collect personal data 🤷”) so disgusting. As if this was nothing at all. This is what happens when you hollow out ethics, you’re left with technicalities.

@blinry Many are being forced to use it all the time, which I’m sure leads to coding muscle atrophy, and therefore to a subreptitious, career-stalling, technical debt. It might get better with the price raises (surely not with current/planned regulations), but the damage is done, the market is being poisoned. And that’s just for the professional side. Not saying anything new, anyway. I share all the other crucial worries you mentioned.
