#Garden update! I have harvested a total of 8 delicious cherry tomatoes, I have about 12 bunches of green ones still growing. The mystery tomato plant (I got it at a mutual aid fundraiser and it was a volunteer tomato plant from someone's raised beds) has 3 palm-sized tomatoes that are light green with dark green stripes. I'm interested to see what they turn out to be. My carrot greens were turning brown so I plucked them, and they are tiny but very sweet! We already ate them. They were about thumb-length. My bell pepper plant died. This was a longshot plant after my cat had eaten all the leaves off it before I had a change to plant it. The dill died, I think I overwatered it. The chives are still going strong as is the lettuce. I didn't harvest either today as they need a little more growth to be able to be a salad.

I had to take Gertie to the vet today to get tested for heart worms before they would give her the flea/tick/heart worm med. We got there and the receptionists immediately went gaga over her and were passing her around. Then the vet tech came out and dropped her clipboard she was so taken aback by Gertie's cuteness! The test is quick and usually takes a minute or two. Instead, I sat there for 15 minutes. The vet tech came back out and apologized for taking so long. Apparently they were passing Gertie around before the test. Then Gertie refused peanut butter and cheese (what!?!?) so they gave her Churu (a fishy flavored paste for cats). She is so dang spoiled! #GertieFanClub

Just rolled over in my sleep and woke up when my right (bad) hip popped. The tension and pain in my hip are gone. What did I do and will it last?

I just had my first tomato that I grew myself!! It was orange-red in color and I was watering my garden before the heat of the day and I just plucked it and ate it! The rest of the bunch should be ready tomorrow or Sunday.

@wendythedruid@thistlenfern.org I cut my leftover bread into croutons and bake them for added tastiness for my salads or for snacking. Preheat the oven at 350⁰F. Combine 2-3 tablespoons of oil, any kind, with the seasonings of your choice. I use Penzey's roasted garlic, Penzey's sandwich sprinkle, and dried marjoram. Stir together and let sit for 20 minutes. Stir the frozen bread cubes into the seasoned oil until they are well coated. Spread on a cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes or until toasted. Cool completely and store in air tight container.

I came home to find the mowers took out 2 of my 4 tomato plants!! I'm burning with rage right now.

She was playing, went in the back to poop, didn't finish a soft poo and wiped it on my chest!! 💩 Hubby said "there's something in your dress" I go to wipe it off and he starts shouting "it's shit it's shit it's shit!!" But that doesn't register until I already had my finger wiping it off!! #GertieFanClub

@Caiotekit@convo.casa my go to work breakfast are those little snack packs of meat and cheese or nuts and cheese. At home it's a cheese sandwich. I'm not a breakfast food person.

@Star12Mt@masto.nyc This sets the scene of my country bumpkin of a hubby coming out of Grand Central (we had just arrived by train from Connecticut and it was his first time in NYC), standing in the middle of the sidewalk, then in the middle of the street, and looking up with his jaw wide open. :mastolol: I was ushering him along at an NYC walking pace in an orthopedic boot (I had broken my foot 4 weeks earlier) and I was smoking, trying not to yell at him. Good times.

@thomas@beige.party I use Joplin to keep track of things. I wear several hats at work so I have notebooks setup with different lists for the different areas I work in. I also keep running grocery lists for the different stores we go to. It synchs between devices as well.You can host it yourself but I pay for hosting, it's like $30US a year which is very reasonable for as much as I use it.

@dalfen we actually bought a second chest freezer and panic bought cheese, meat, and bread last month to fill it. I just did our monthly grocery shop and it was $100 more than last month, even accounting for the panic food buying. We still have to go to Sam's Club which will be another $100. I have no idea how to stretch our money further than I am. If this keeps up at this rate, in 2 months we won't be able to eat 3 meals a day.

@studiofox@beige.party we live half a mile from the bus stop, and I'm in no physical shape to walk it, and then it would be an hour bus ride to work. I honestly don't know how I'm going to afford to go to work in the coming weeks.
