@danirabbit@mastodon.online I've had the discussion so many times that grades are nothing but a snapshot of your current knowledge of often very specific points at the point in time of taking the exam. Luckily, knowledge isn't static and you are allowed to get better, learn, adapt and even break with convention at times. Our current way of imparting and testing for knowledge is deeply flawed in my opinion.

Ofc, exploits can be chained (reverse shell would be an example of getting lesser privilege user rights) but the original post is still correct.

@Edent@mastodon.social personally I've never experienced any of the problems many people gripe about with Matrix/Element. Not discounting other peoples experiences, i just can't substantiate them anecdotally. Yes you need to add new devices via QR code/emoji, but i.e. Signal doesn't allow multiple mobile devices at all. Or sign-up via e-mail. Or self-hosting. The cryptography offers some room for improvement compared to Signal, but is still miles ahead of other self-styled "secure messengers". I'd say both Signal and Matrix have their ups and downs but i don't see myself going back to XMPP/IRC (or corporate IM) anytime soon.

I'm coming up on 8 years experience as a systems and security engineer, and my primary focuses include network and endpoint security, vulnerability management, Linux administration, virtualization and project management. I also have experience coordinating with ISMS, infrastructure/datacenter architecture and working with BSI and IEC 62443 standards.
