@cassidyclown@clubcyberia.co as the resident fed[i] around here I have no idea how governments seem to light money on fire but not actually change anything for the better when the software I'm supposed to use every day has about a 10% chance of just not working
@cassidyclown@clubcyberia.co@azure@clubcyberia.co it is the worst of both worlds, right on Australia. Fantastic job privatising the part that should be public and making public the part that should be private
@lewdthewides@hidamari.apartments The website says $200 which is probably extremely very wrong, my speculation from the price of just getting a main board and the chassis without RAM or anything else new it'll be around $700-800
I have the excuse to upgrade since my 7040 decided to randomly drop dead
The Framework Laptop 13 Pro looks pretty cool, now that my (dead) laptop is finally in my possession again I'm probably going to buy a new main board (now on discount so that's neat) and maybe buy the pro upgrade chassis whenever it comes out
@cassidyclown@clubcyberia.co Wait they got rid of the pension for younger civil servants? That's beyond retarded and the opposite of what a pension is supposed to be which is something you pay into AND pull out of
@pwm@darkdork.dev@zero@strelizia.net 23 dollars I'll never get back from the overage charges
The last time it happened some Indian was using my Peertube instance to stream porn on Facebook
How they managed to do that is something I never bothered figuring out
@waifu@shitposter.world@cassidyclown@clubcyberia.co You would think they would care about both cost and quality since minimising the former and maximising the latter would be better both selflessly for the public and selfishly on them (to either get re-elected or keeping their head on their shoulders)
@azure@clubcyberia.co@cassidyclown@clubcyberia.co does Australia actually export the same amount of oil and (what I assume to be LNG) gas as the UAE? The UAE exports like 20x as much oil while Australia exports like 20x as much LNG but I don't know how the scale and money is different between LNG and oil, I assume oil is way more lucrative
@azure@clubcyberia.co@cassidyclown@clubcyberia.co Superannuation seems to get rid of the positives that a normal pension would have while also adding on the negatives the American system has where it's basically entirely on the employee and usually gets invested in the market which doesn't always go up
@cassidyclown@clubcyberia.co defined benefit plans have a purpose because if left to their own devices people won't save anything for retirement and then when they get old have to work until they die instead of leaving their likely higher level job for someone younger than them
Just letting people pay into it and NOT take money out is just a wealth redistribution but from the young to the old
It would be like back during the industrial revolution if instead of advocating for regulations to prevent factory owners from getting away with murder you just ban factories
The fact that so-called "prediction markets" (techbro for casino) welcome and basically require insider trading to be the"most accurate" is the most definitive proof they should never exist
@prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer the only good XMPP client is Conversations but it's Android only, everything else was coded on pillars of sand that will collapse if looked at too hard
