Another silver maple in my neighbourhood got the mark of death.
All the trees are of a similar age and size and have reached the end of their natural lives but just as we need more shade during the summer, those trees are dying.

Indeed, ebook lending is markedly better for the user but the idea that an ebook expires after a certain number of loans is abhorrent rent-seeking.
Pretty sure no one at CBC actually uses their Listen app, nor anyone who develops it.
Logs out every time the app is updated. An account isn’t required but nags constantly without one.
Easier to get CBC radio shows via podcast than their 1st party app.

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io I tried your chawanmushi instant pot recipe. It worked so much better than when i tried to do it on the stove top!

You have to wonder the implications on health care to have a lot more citizens paying the provincial insurance premium but not income taxes.
We might do it folks, we might actually have higher order transit from day one for a newly build neighbourhood.
Cut short a Mew Lake front country weekend camping trip on Saturday due to the rainfall warning and flood potential. Sites are a mix of ice and mud. We found a high and dry patch under some pine trees.
Woke up at 0200h Saturday with my brother for astrophotography, finished around 0530h. The sky was clear and we got treated to aurora.
Rain was forecast to start at 0900h. Made breakfast, broke camp, and headed home.
Long day as I stayed up up Saturday until 2100h.
It kills me that the Canadian Press does not know what dumping is.
“The Canada Border Services Agency has launched a probe to determine if plywood is being subsidized or sold at unfair prices in Canada.”
Dumping is selling abroad at a lower price that domestically.
States can subsidize all they want, states can take a loss, states can have terrible environmental impacts.
That doesn’t make it unfair to Canadian producers, that makes it cheaper.
If you are going to self-host, do yourself a favour and self-host an rss feed reader too.
Github publishes an ATOM feed of the releases page which makes keeping track of updates much easier.
Especially as many web services have migration scripts that need to be run between versions, blindly updating is making work for yourself.

- Well there are no support tickets, so everything must be fine!

Did anyone in the BC government inform the TZ database about their time change?
Based on the mailing list, it seems like no...
so SSH is randomly timing out on wifi to a server on LAN.
Terminal will freeze and in MacOS console shows ssh-client complaining the socket timedout
How on earth do you go about debugging this....
As Li-ion batteries are integrated into more things, and those things do not age gracefully, the chance that a spicy pillow starts a fire in the dump goes up.
After days of debugging and headscratching, I finally got matrixRTC calling working. Learned a lot in the process!

Citizenship entitles you to residency, which entitles you to provincial insurance.
I could see someone facing medical bankruptcy in the US but with Canadian citizenship deciding to relocate.

Protest near my kids daycare regarding rezoning of school lands on Ossington to keep up with the Toronto official plan.
Some legitimate concerns, but a lot of BNANAs in the crowd, who seem opposed to mid-rise and anymore people living in the neighbourhood.
Who'd have though that rules that require airlines to be honest to customers would always be followed.
We can have a little bit of good housing news, as a treat.

Running nextcloud bare metal and not having a supported upgrade path from debian 11 -> 12 without 3rd party repos (that Debian advises against) because of PHP convinced me to start fresh with Containers.

They likely will need to substantially reconstruct the elevated section to fix persistent track bed flaws.
Which if you’re going to suspend service for potentially years, maybe it would be better to fix the alignment that necessitates slow speeds!

The 'AI' part of the system is probably related to automated licence plate reading and object/movement detection. I very much doubt any LLM or GenAI would be useful in this use case.

But in the context of idly, I think you need it to be smooth to make the dough.
I just find it funny that whomever was translating didn’t have the context. And imagine trying to use cheese curds would be… dry.
I’ve never heard of quark (outside of physics), will try!
Got a package of imported Idly mix and the English instructions refer to curd (Dahi) but the french instructions refer to "fromage blanc". One of these is not like the other!.
