The issue with Matrix' "eventually consistent" approach is that the protocol assumes inconsistencies simply don't exist and just ignores that eventuality, so when inconsistensies arise they tend to be 1. silent and 2. irrecoverable

@ariadne the best part is that reactions *could* be encrypted (AFAICT). It's just that clients don't, because it breaks server-side reaction aggregation or something.
Thin clients are fundamentally incompatible with encryption, because the server *by necessity* needs unencrypted dara to do its job

@lix_project @valpackett I would have liked to offer the guarantee of "all Nixpkgs releases are completely free of warnings", but unfortunately some of these got introduced back into new code faster than I could keep up with, so it's been best-effort instead. To avoid unnecessary breakage, only the most obscure deprecated features are hard eval errors, the others are merely noisy warnings for now

Inventing new subtly different semantics for established mathematical notation and then calling everyone else wrong on their proofs without being stringent about anything doesn't fly
