My bi-annual reminder that for those of us who follow the day-month convention, 22/7 is a better π day than 3.14.
Pero, ¿Por qué no los dos?

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net I work in a large government organisation where people love using acronyms. I now have a snippet that I send to writers when I’m asking them what an acronym stands for.
“Before you use an acronym in a document that other people will read, think about your audience (now and in the future and in other places): will they ALL know what the acronym is? It might be obvious to you, but unless you are 100% sure that everyone knows the acronym (the UN? an ATM?), help your audience by typing out the full phrase.
“Do you and your audience share the same concepts? Are you and your audience from the same place? Are you and your audience both from the present time? It's important to consider that for anyone who is outside your field, living in another place, or reading your text in the future, the acronym might not be as obvious as it is to you in your place and context right now.”

@jwildeboer A very positive article. Good for me to read it to counteract my pessimism about the Australian government’s/economy’s obsession with fossil fuels.

“We should remember that even Nature’s inadvertence has its own charm, its own attractiveness. The way loaves of bread split open on top; the ridges are just by-products of the baking, and yet pleasing, somehow: they rouse our appetite without our knowing why. Or how ripe figs begin to burst: the shadow of decay gives them a peculiar beauty… If you look at them in isolation there’s nothing beautiful about them; yet by supplementing nature they enrich it & draw us in.” Meditations 3,2

@brian_gettler Brave.
(Also: I wasn’t that brave, but I might have thought of the question back in the day.)
Pablo has excellent mini-reviews of the queer books he’s reading. Highly recommend. https://lgbtqia.space/@setmeravelles/115890005349565824
