mastodon 4.7.3🏳️⚧️ Programmer and geek living in Guernsey. Thinking of elegant code in in C, C++ and Python, wondering what it would be like to write it one day.
In my spare time I'm studying for an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, playing video games, and trying to learn French.
I speak German, and will occasionally post in it.

@daniel_gonzalez@neopaquita.es @PCMag@mastodon.social There's also a "--disable-interactivity" flag for avoiding those clicks!
@saxnot@chaos.social @fesshole@mastodon.social The fess is from March 2021, when COVID restrictions in the UK were (I think) still in effect, and the vaccine rollout was still in its early days, so posties weren't vaccinated but still had to go to work.

@Infrapink@mastodon.ie @fesshole@mastodon.social Let's just hope the dungeon was dedicated to Slaanesh and not Nurgle...
Advice for when running a bath in the UK: double-check that you've not got the hot and cold taps mixed up.
Resentfully glaring at cold water as it runs down the plughole (taking most of your bubbles with it) is a very sad activity.

@tymwol They missed a trick when naming quaternions :)
(If you haven't heard of them: they add j and k components, and the order of multiplication matters: j*k = -k*j)

@pleia2@floss.social It might be worth checking if encryption keys are copyrightable (I don't think they would be, but that's a non-expert opinion).
If they're not, I think you'd be fine to just put them in a CC-BY repo. If they are, it's not uncommon to see a different licence for a different set of files.

@KimSJ @vagina_museum I'm not 100% sure about UK law but if it's anything like Guernsey then they are required to identify their donors, and asking for name+address is an accepted way to do that (huge donations require more scrutiny).

@eq_@mastodon.social @fionafokus@mystical.garden Politics doesn't have rigid backwards-compatibility requirements. In tech, some of the problems are inherent to the standard in question, and rewriting is easier than trying to morph one standard/system into another that's fundamentally different.

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social Honestly - foundational damage from Japanese knotweed and bamboo are common exclusions from a lot of house insurance policies where I live.
