Hi! I am a programmer from Finland who likes Linux, Rust, functional programming and languages with a lot of round parentheses. I play too much video games and collect hobbies (usually music, art or craft related).

I have worked on all kinds of things, from debugging MSP430 assembly in cubesats to bleeding edge FRP React blobs. Some Chromium optimization and Linux distro maintenance sprinkled on top.

@sundogplanets How is that even possible. Getting FCC to even look at your cubesat permit was an ordeal and getting it through the mandatory (I think it was mandatory?) comment round from other regulatory bodies without vetoes was an even bigger one. This does not sound good for anyone.

@gabrielesvelto Yeah. Some times those low level concepts leak through the abstractions, either in form of bugs or how something works in high level language. It does not happen that often, but when it does the knowledge makes understanding why so much easier.
Maybe the most commonly seen example of this is Rust lifetimes: if you have been dealing with instruction and stack registers/pointers, lifetimes make perfect sense. One could say that those become almost intuitive and elegant solution.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net In Finland there are places where lake water levels are already at the lowest point which is usually reached at middle of dryest time of summer. There are going to be places where wells go dry this summer. In Finland! In country of thousand lakes and where water is so abundant that you would never think you would run out of it. Kind of not a good situation here, it will be horrific elsewhere.
