We are NLnet foundation. We support organisations and people who contribute to an open internet for all. If you are working on a project that helps fix the internet through open hardware, open software, open standards, open science and open data, we invite you to apply for a grant.
We're lead of the @NGIZero@mastodon.xyz coalition which runs several programmes to fund those who are building free and open source technologies for the Next Generation Internet.
After an historical contribution to the early internet in Europe in the 1980's, we've been financially supporting the open internet since 1997.

Congratulations to the Monitoring Plugins team for winning the 4th BlueHats prize!
@monitoringplugins@fosstodon.org is a long lived project for keeping IT infrastructure running correctly.
BlueHats is a €10.000 prize to honor maintainers & aims to shine a light on their importance for #FOSS.
The jury praised Monitoring Plugins for its important (but often unnoticed) contribution to monitoring IT infra: "This project is typical of a niche Free Software initiative that helps other tools to remain accurate".
57 free and open source projects are selected for grants in the ninth open call of the NGI Zero Commons Fund.
We want the thank these projects teams and all applicants for their contribution to the digital commons. They are building digital infrastructure that fosters user autonomy, resiliency, interoperability, openness, accessibility, and strive for technical excellence.

As NLnet transitions from #NGI to the Open Internet Stack (OIS), we'll temporarily pause our bimonthly open calls, with the exception of NGI Taler & Fediversity.
In order to take stock of a decade of the Next Generation Internet initiative, we'll halt our open calls. After the summer the regular application process will re-open with 3 new programs under the new #OIS umbrella. Ongoing projects can continue their important work uninterrupted.
