Free Software Foundation Europe
Free Software Foundation Europe is a charity that empowers users to control technology. Software is deeply involved in all aspects of our lives. #FreeSoftware (aka #OpenSource) gives everybody the rights to use, understand, adapt, and share software. These rights help support other fundamental rights like freedom of speech, freedom of press, and privacy. #SoftwareFreedom
Public Money? #PublicCode ! #DeviceNeutrality #UpcyclingAndroid #RouterFreedom #ilovefs #YH4F #REUSE #DigitalRights
If it’s funded with public money, it should be public code.
That means guaranteeing the 4 freedoms:
🔓 Use the code
🔍 Study how it works
✏️ Modify it
🔁 Share it
Do you agree?
✍️ Sign the open letter
📢 Share it with your network
🏛️ Call on decision-makers to invest in public code
🚨 NHS England should not hide public code behind closed doors
England’s National Health Service (#NHS England) is preparing to make most of its public source code repositories private by default, according to recent reports. 🫣
The reported internal guidance would require public repositories to be made private unless an explicit exception is approved.

⚠️ #Apple keeps challenging its interoperability obligations under the #DMA
A report, done by the FSFE, exposes how 56 interoperability requests under the Digital Markets Act have produced no concrete solutions by Apple, and how their declines contradict their own official documentation, leaving third-party developers locked out of iOS and iPadOS, despite @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu latest specification decision.

Have you met Ada? 🛠️
The illustrated book "Ada & Zangemann" (and also a film !🎬 ) tells the story of a girl who discovers the joy of tinkering and why the freedom to learn, fix, and share technology should matter for all of us.
A perfect story for kids & adults. Read the book, watch the movie, donate the story to your local library!

🔸 April brought LLW, where we gathered with Legal Network members
🔹 #DMA legislation is keeping us busy: we are exposing how Apple keeps blocking third-party developers, denying their interoperability requests.
🔸 On a brighter note, over ten years of advocacy paid off: the @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu is protecting users' right to install any software on radio devices. 🚀
