This is a tiny fraction of what you get when subscribing to a #streaming service. It is music I bought since my childhood. Nowadays I would just use a streaming service. Streaming is so much cheaper and has a lot more music to listen to. But well, somehow I run a #navidrome server and listen to it.
If I would sell all these for 1 Euro each I could subscribe for 10 years to a streaming service.

Ideen für Kategorien:
Ökostandards, Fair Trade, ethische Standards, etc.
Ich kaufe eh das meiste vor Ort und habe noch nie Amazon verwendet.

@qdot I understand you being annoyed when your name is Claude. I also understand you being annoyed by coworkers using vibe coding and commiting that file as if it belongs to the repository. Why are your coworkers using "git commit -a"? You should talk to them. I doubt adding their names as markdown files to the repository is a good measure to teach people, even when you feel offended by their behaviour.

Sure I am running lots of other services on my server. When you store movies you need a lot of space.
The question ist how often do you rewatch a movie or relisten to some music that might dissappear.
I was just saying that financially it is a lot more cheap for most of us to subscribe to a service.

@t0maz@floss.social Well it does not cover my vinyl collection. But I have a huge percentage of it also digital.
You are right, I own the music, but I have to play for my homeserver, when storage has to be replaced and for the electronic bill also the effort to host everything on my own, which means next to the hardware the time that I invest to keep it secure.
Maybe you can live with streaming services since most of the artists you listen to will be still available, even if some aren't or aren't anymore.
