Mom, the cyclops tree is *looking* at me and it won't stop!
Attempted to swallow a powder-filled capsule maybe 15 minutes ago. Apparently got it caught in the back of my throat without swallowing it fully. Just burped a powdery cloud.

It is difficult to practice doing the right thing here, because I generally don't have multiple spotters to call on and there are only so many times per week I can go heavy! (My preferred meet strategy is simply to not miss attempts, but, well.) But clearly I need to practice failing more.

Doubly frustrating because I've been rehabbing a shoulder injury since last fall and this is my first competition since last summer; if I want to go to nationals this year I'm running out of chances to get a qualifying total (there are no more nearby meets and only a few dates I don't have conflicting commitments before the cutoff).

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk As it turns out, I was his top match (mostly by including things like "Douglas Hofstadter" and "number theory"). I was still in undergrad and some doofus in my dorm set off the fire alarm at 3 am, so we evacuated and after the fire department came to lecture us and clear us to go back in, I couldn't get back to sleep and sat at my computer instead.
And answered a message, which apparently I was the only one to answer. Anyway about 21 years later here we are.
