Hello fediverse!
Today some of the most innovative creators & podcasters are launching social websites that will bring millions of their fans to the social web:

https://vergecast.surf.social
https://wired.surf.social
https://404media.surf.social
https://poweruser.surf.social

Today we're also opening https://surf.social on the web to let anyone surf the whole social web including over 130K feeds that bring together people, podcasts, YouTube channels, newsletters, blogs and images for whatever you're into.
I've been looking forward to today for 2.5 years and am so grateful to be a part of building the social web. Thank you to all who have helped and inspired us.

Today I’m live on Product Hunt answering questions and evangelizing Activitypub and the social web among the founders and product builders there.

RE: @imdavidpierce@www.threads.com
The post heard round the world!
Thanks to @imdavidpierce@threads.net and @reckless1280@threads.net for their undying support of the open social web. Nilay has been relentlessly executing on a vision that is going to light the way forward for digital media.
Huge shoutout to @reckless@mastodon.social and @davidpierce@mastodon.social who have been relentlessly evangelizing the social web since Elon took over twitter. Now they’re not just evangelizing, they’re shipping.
Verge.surf.social is sooo good. Like looking at The Verge through the other end of the telescope.
If you love great photography you should check out the Leica Challenge Surf feed on a big screen:
RE: @mgs@me.dm
This is an excellent and poignant encapsulation of Om. He was the zen of tech and I will miss him greatly.
The look tab when surfing Artemis II is astonishing right now.
I don't write very often and it's been ten years since I wrote this but it may be even more relevant now for founders and leaders than ever: @mmccue@medium.com
This open social website by @taylorlorenz@mastodon.social is an example of the future of the web: https://poweruser.surf.social
Here Taylor is continually curating the people, podcasts and sources she trusts into a single destination that anyone can engage with regardless of whether they're on Mastodon or Bluesky. More importantly, people who aren't yet on the social web can easily join her community--not because they want to join the social web but because they want to join Taylor's community.
Taylor also gets to decide how she wants her feed to look, how she wants to moderate it and how she should monetize it. And critically, Taylor owns the connections with her followers forever.
None of this is possible in the walled gardens. But all of it is possible on the open social web.
This is such an awesome feed by @stephenrobles@mastodon.social. It's a great example of how a creator on Mastodon can pull together their social posts, podcast, newsletter and YouTube channel in a single place for everyone to discover. Can't do anything like this in the walled gardens!

This is a talk I gave at last weekend's Atmosphere conference about the power of the open social web and how feeds are the new web sites: https://ionosphere.tv/talks/81Xovjr
Well, here we go.
I'm thankful for this place as we enter an insane new era. Hope we all come out together and stronger on the other side.
There are so many great apps and services in the fediverse. To gain a better understanding of these I spoke with @atomicpoet@atomicpoet.org for the latest episode of DotSocial. As many of you already know, Chris is a long time fediverse enthusiast with a lot of insight into the past, present and future of the social web.
We had a really fun discussion. Check it out on our PeerTube instance or wherever you get your podcasts.
