Vor genau zwei Jahren haben wir für @heiseonline@social.heise.de unseren Account auf #Mastodon in Betrieb genommen 👇

Es hat länger gedauert, als ich gedacht hätte, aber es sieht danach aus, dass der jetzt tatsächlich kontinuierlich mehr #Traffic auf heise.de bringt, als #X (#Twitter) insgesamt. Und das mit nur ¼ der Follower (von denen viele längst wieder inaktiv sind).
Diagramme kommen nach dem Wochenende.

So, I got this question some days ago and I can only guess: Why is there almost no content on #Mastodon/ in the #Fediverse about the #WorldCup? Yes, I know, that we're supposed to boycott etc. But that's clearly no majority opinion out there. Is there really no interest here? Is it because of something technical? Like no proper live debate because you won't see all posts? Or does (almost) no one post about football here, because of negative replies? What do you think?

@fediverse So here is a first analysys of shares and favs by #Software 👇🏼 There are some missing, maybe because my instance doesn't know about them (I'm getting the number via API), and #Bluesky has some more (but not much). Sadly I tagged #Lemmy/#Piefed wrong, so they could not share/like. The most surprising part for me is how many of the accounts are bridged via #BridgyFed, it's more than one sixth as far as I can see. I will look into the data more. #Fediverse #SocialMedia

the diversity is great, but the range of reachable networks seems not bigger

Als Erklärung für mein Interesse: Das Diagramm zeigt, wie viele Besucher*innen pro Woche von #Mastodon auf heise.de gekommen sind. Da, wo es im Herbst 2023 so steil abfällt, haben wir aufgehört, Artikelbilder als Anhang dazuzupacken und stattdessen auf die (damals neue) Vorschau vertraut. Da gab es aber natürlich den Bug, der dafür gesorgt hat, dass wir Klicks auf diese Vorschau nicht sehen konnten (der URL-Parameter wurde abgeschnitten), sondern nur solche direkt auf den Link.

Würde da jetzt trotzdem nichts ändern, darauf deutet ja auch die Umfrage hin. Sieht ja schon so aus, dass der Traffic insgesamt abfällt und dieser plötzliche Abfall wahrscheinlich auf den Preview-Bug zurückgeht. Mal sehen, wie es jetzt weitergeht, nachdem der endlich behoben wurde.

@qbi@freie-re.de Ich bin ganz zufrieden, dass wir die Mastodon-Instanz bekommen haben. Viel der restlichen Arbeit damit mach ich in meiner Freizeit, das würde sich ja einfach nicht lohnen. Sehe da jetzt erstmal nicht, dass wir da noch mit Software experimentieren..

@tux@burningboard.net Ja genau, teilweise wird #BridgyFed aber auch von Instanzen geblockt. Und ja, es ruckelt durchaus immer wieder. #Threads kommt langsam voran, aber halt nicht für europäische Accounts. Anderen kann man aber folgen.
