Team lead Visualization and XR at SURF. Supports HPC users with data visualization on supercomputer Snellius. XR innovation, co-organizer National XR Day, coordinator XR Developer Network.

Tooting on a wide variety of topics, there's lots of stuff I find interesting. (And I really wish Mastodon had a way to make multiple channels on a single account).

Boosting toots does not always mean I agree or endorse.

@wdormann@infosec.exchange As noted in the readme in the repo, the issue being exploited was already recognized in 2020. Bit of a shame it never got patched back then.

At the moment, this is solved by failing open: If the mm is gone, we pretend that it was dumpable. That's dubious from a security perspective - as one example, we drop the mm_struct before the file descriptor table, so someone might be able to steal file descriptors from an exiting tasks when dumpability was supposed to prevent that.

Yeah right. Also, nobody asked you to get "us" to this point, nor did "we" actively work towards it.

@mho@social.heise.de Another idea could be to add a net migration mode, showing either an incoming or outgoing arrow between relevant country pairs.

@mho@social.heise.de @dataisbeautiful Very nice, easy to use. Some suggestions: the arrow heads often are too big and obscure the destination countries when they are small. On Firefox hovering over a country name in the lists shows both the regular tooltip and the CSS-formatted one, overlapping. The map projection used is a bit stretched it seems.

@Edent@mastodon.social @openbenches The big blobs grouping multiple benches are a bit suboptimal. Although I still like them a bit better than the usual grouping into a count per area. At least the heatmap blobs gives some view of distribution that's easier on the eyes.

@olivia Hmm, somewhat torn on this. Having some GenAI skills is not a bad thing, even in academia. But "How do you make sure your text looks authentic?" doesn't sound great. "How can you get GenAI to successfully rewrite your text so that a business note turns into a creative LinkedIn post?" doesn't sound great either.

@Blender Wanted to run the (cli) benchmark, but unfortunately ftp.nluug.nl is down and I don't see an option to force another mirror for the binary?

@Di4na@hachyderm.io @alexandrageese@bonn.social Interesting, can you give some more explanation on why sovereignty is not the the right framework for open source? I know almost nothing about (EU) sovereignty initiatives, but am pretty familiar with open source.
