I had such a good time today. Went to a town a few hours away, relaxed at their waterfront. Attended a geek market where I bought model kits, stickers and a lanyard and spoke to cool cosplayers. Returned to town where I ate ramen and drank a yuzu beer. Then checked out to a second hand shop where I bought a Wii game I had been looking for. :floofHappy:

I kinda hate how people are starting to accept gen AI use in games as long as the gen AI assets are replaced before launch. does the environmental impact, the loss of work for artists and the support of bigoted tech not bother them as long as it out of sight out of mind?

@mttaggart@infosec.exchange I hate the "democratizing knowledge" and "democratizing creativity" argument so much. these things are already democratized. there are endless resources online and in libraries that can help people develop their skills, expand their sensibilities and learn things for free. all AI does is let you pretend you've put in the work; it lets you roleplay someone who actually has drive. it's an empty aesthetic sold in fancy packaging en masse, like a tshirt that says "be excellent to each other" made in a sweatshop on the other side of the world.
