carbon capture is a scam full stop.
no system has even captured enough to offset its own operational carbon impact.
we shouldn't be paying for any "carbon capture" other than trees and reducing fossil fuel dependacy

there's an ad "blocking" plugin for FF browsers called adnauseum - it doesn't show you ads but clicks on every link on a page and does the poisoning you speak of.

Wow. Canada didn't even need the nuclear trade option - it appears trump might do it himself.
this means, if he's true to his word, no energy, no potash, no steal, no aluminium, no car parts, no toilet paper, and no more anything from Canada
And yes, this would hit Canada hard as well.
so incoming eventual TACO?

sigh. reminds me of a project I inherited where through a comedy of errors and wishful thinking, there was no way mobile data was going to work given the then current constraints.
so, I made the entire client/server control interaction work with SMS messages instead.
It wasn't a consumer application so we were the "cloud" anyway, but in the end the SMS system worked better as it was more reliable than the available mobile data.
plus, if the underlying system that supports SMS isn't available, you definitely aren't getting mobile data - and it doesn't care what level of 'G' you're on 2, 2.5, 5... whatever. Given that 3G has been switched off in a lot of areas already, anything 3G is now dead to the world too. SMS isn't though.

C-22 is so deeply flawed and problematic. It also fails to define the things it “protects” from.

Have a feeling this won't work out the way the republicans want it to.
Might just have to boycott more. (And US booze is available to order online from the provinces that aren't boycotting it)

thanks! and much appreciated.
unfortunately it's going to take more than just a change in administration - 74M voted for this, and until there's confidence this won't be repeated, there will be hesitation vis-a-vis the US in all areas.
I know that "electoral reform" is a forbidden topic south of the border, but it would go a long way to building trust abroad. To ensure that all candidates get at least 50% of the popular vote, even if it takes more than one round, would go a long way. The final tally, iirc, left trump with less than 50% of the vote this time around.
to be fair, there's a rising problem around the world with people who're letting perfection get in the way of progress, and solid concrete steps in the right direction just "aren't good enough" which is doesn't help anyone in the end.

Fine. And in return we want all the "fentanyl" nonsense tariffs removed, especially if the US is doing nothing to stem the flow of firearms into Canada.
And someone should remind PH that US booze is still available online from provinces that haven't pulled it from their shelves, but Canadians still aren't buying it.
Also, open the Gordie Howe bridge that Canada footed the construction bill for. Both countries will benefit, and everything has already been negotiated. If you're not going to stick to one agreement, why should Canada trust the US on any others?

yea went through the same about a year ago when some other dubious stuff came out about them, and made the switch to Tuta. So far Tuta's been really good and the switch was pretty straightforward, and well documented by Tuta
I waited until the end of my proton subscription and then jumped over rather than renewing.

FISA would still make that hard for people in the US. The Foreign Intelligence Security Act allows US agencies to capture all internet traffic that crosses into or out of the US - if at least one party is not American.
So part of the sovereignty of digital services is partly to retain privacy, esp of gov't services that have to be serviced in the US.
If the US advanced privacy laws, it would financially impact big tech - but that's, unfortunately, a problem for US citizens. Call your reps.

Oh Canada ...
Given we've gotten nothing for repealing it, it's about time we re-introduced it, and migrate away from dependancy on US tech infrastructure.

in the cbc article the justification is that Ontario is twice the size of texas - which, while true, how many airports are jet capable north of Thuderbay, North Bay, etc - most of it is just plain inaccessible.
Sure there's maybe more travel, but I'd like to see the cost justification over hiring charters to demonstrate that a $28.9M expenditure makes sense.
At least they bought Canadian.

apparently it's running low on missiles - especially defensive ones, and so intercepting Iranian barrages of cheap drones is getting harder.
When you put a $20k shahed drone against a $1.5M patriot interceptor, one side is going to run out sooner
Basically you can't win a war from the air. You need boots on the ground or it's never going to work . And UA has demonstrated the problems with boots on the ground these days. The US is fighting with obsolete techniques.

they voted for Brexit - why stop voting against their interests now?
there are a lot of hang-ups with "British Exceptionalism" that the "experts" and "immigrants" are ruining too.
bascially the promised land is just around the corner despite all the evidence to the contrary.
and why Alberta isn't paying attention to that self-inflicted wound is beyond me.
