@ExtinctionR@social.rebellion.global I’m no fan of ER but I have to agree with this. Military emissions aren’t even counted in a country’s assessment which is obscene.

@nantucketlit @NylaWoethief @atgonzalez @superball @asakiyume @amin I’d love to have a go at this. Thank you!
Madness in Ireland to block landing of fuel tankers.Mass denial of climate change is not going to make it go away but sure, let’s look at how we can protect ourselves from future shocks. Including angry people who starve animals.
@Remittancegirl@mstdn.social can’t spell Scots.
@brad@1040ste.net thanks for replying. Yes, diversity is good, provided that there is integration into the existing culture.
Musk is wrong, of course. Huge Middle European, Jewish, Spanish influence, not to mention the original inhabitants whose culture has so influenced our understanding of how systems can coexist.

@aral@mastodon.ar.al not a fan of The Conversation which won’t support independent academic research but I wrote my PhD about the ecological emergency and what you can do about it and it’s all soft stuff, diplomacy and community engagement, never war or breaking things. They’re schoolchildren who have power and money and never had to slow down or take consequences. Still. I’m living a good life largely by chance though also because I broke rules, not people or things.

@jensorensen@mastodon.social completely disagree. Used polarisation precisely because it’s extremism becoming evident at both ends of the spectrum and mastodons might like to think on that.

@Strandjunker everyone suffers. But we all have to make an effort to get on, regardless of our beliefs. Yours do not Trump mine, and vice versa.
Thank you, Your Majesty. Fantastic speech and very much appreciated.
Mastodon, convince me you’re capable of critical thinking. What’s a woman?
It’s more fun on Bluesky than here.
The photos from space of Earth from Artemis now cf the first moon landing are much hazier. Pollution?
What’s happening with Bluesky? Seems to be down.

@timbray just had a glance through. Oxfam has been shouting about this for a while. You’re right of course and so are they. What we can do about it is the problem. Soft solutions like getting into groups and finding alternatives to the main markets are sadly middle class solutions. Sapolsky is worth reading (as am I!) on why we can’t change course in the way we think we can. I’m a philosopher so no one listens but greetings from Ireland which has the highest energy costs in Europe.

@timbray@cosocial.ca thanks, Tim, for your thoughts. I completely disagree that someone can self identify as having a particular biological sex. I completely agree that someone can self identify as having a particular biological gender. This, it seems to me, is the confusion. Of course someone can say that they're a woman for the purposes of their social and political life. That doesn't change biology.

@2legged@mastodon.ie how many British soldiers were killed? Nothing takes away from the deaths of those who were killed but the others are humans too.
