mastodon 4.8.0-nightly.2026-10-06👨🏽🦯 Totally blind since birth, I was a Rotary exchange student to Brazil in high school.
After Edgewood College, I worked as a programmer as well as in IT. Now I help to advance computer accessibility for the blind community.
I've also played piano since age 4, and concentrate in the area of the late 18th century, period instruments, as well as the music.
I have also been fortunate enough to work with the BrainPort artificial vision device, which has changed how I think of objects in my mind.

@dadederk A genuine question. With apps like Voice Dream Reader, already out there, how are you trying to do better?

@siracusa It would be interesting to see how well, or bad, the Neo would do, compiling Hyperspace or a real app that’s on the store.

@mikedoise Your app might force me to upgrade on my Mac, I just haven’t yet. none of the macOS 26 features have interested me yet. I have used Launchbar since 2009 so I don’t care about the improved spotlight or built in clipboard history.

@Dulcetmoon@dragonscave.space Amazon used to deliver packages on weekends, not any more. at least, not here in Madison.

@ivan_soto@dragonscave.space I'm wondering, where are the rest of you getting your Doubletalk rom from?

@kd6cae@dragonscave.space @KanawhaCountyWX@mastodon.social once the NOAA weather radio station here in Madison got messed up. It said there would be lows 100 to 125 below zero.

@simon@dragonscave.space And not an older model. In iOS 18 beta 3 my phone started doing strange things. If VoiceOver saw a widget or something in the Dynamic Island it would reboot the spring board, and other strange things. Bluetooth keyboards had problems since before iOS 18 etc. so I completely reset my phone and everything is fine now, even on the developer beta again.

@HNguyenLy@mas.to It would be interesting to hear more about your experiences with it. Was it an improvement for you?

@geospacedman@mastodon.social @dimsumthinking@mastodon.social What if the presenter is blind, people should be able to give talks without slides.

@Tamasg@mindly.social @simon@dragonscave.space Some times I saw the phone go from a Home Screen to the App Library. This was also fixed in my reset. Ye I lost messages grr. But I never use the App Library. I always have an orbit writer or a Bluetooth keyboard with me so I just look up apps with those.

@megmac@social.treehouse.systems @nmott@infosec.exchange the thing about all of those tools you mentioned, is that they weren't very accessible to screen readers. :(
