All ready for today. 8 colors of pancakes - about 160 in total. Hoping that and the sausage, bacon, bagels, and donuts feeds the forty people coming. I’ll likely say more in this week’s essay- the tl;dr is a gathering of people to note 20 years since Elena died and 10 years for Kim.

I won't be at Swift Island this year but it is a unique conference in a beautiful location.
Unique how? Well the sessions are workshops based around the new things announced by Apple at WWDC and in the past there have been activities including morning yoga or a run an evening of star gazing or biking to the ocean.
Anyway - well worth considering and they've sent me this code for you to use to get money off of your registration: DANIEL_APPROVED.
Tom Lokhorst and Mathijs Kadijk begin the afternoon Apple Track and #appdevcon
Flight and hotel booked for the week of WWDC.
I probably won't apply for a ticket - that week I host my own conference - meeting people like you for coffee at Philz.
Hope to see you there.
The Podcast
On fighting against the move to progressive isolation.
He’s a great speaker - hope you can make it to Aberystwyth
I'm starting to plan my fall tour. I've just said yes to a "new to me" conference outside of the world of iOS and Swift. My schedule is starting to fill up - I'm still hoping to be invited back to some of my favorites.
The Podcast:
On the importance of being able to answer 'I don't know' when you don't know.
The Newsletter:
On what happens when the things around us that we depend on change. Also, Miyazaki's clock, Flea's music quiz, training your brain to see possibility instead of doom, silent book clubs, Boots on the Ground, Maggie's link to a race around the world, and the try!Swift videos.
Friends in Japan or those who know - in addition to tourist tips I’m interested in
* a vegetarian sushi class. I love fish but in the US would be unlikely to buy that quality fish and would love to learn techniques for shaping rice for onigiri and sushi that use vegetables.
Also I’d be interested in
* a Go club or place that’s friendly to beginners and might have a class
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated

James O’Brien on LBC makes me laugh. Talking about the weirdos and the “other word beginning with W that I can’t say on the radio.”
And then for people that didn’t get it he said he could use rhyming slang and call the. “Bankers”

I need to verify but I think Apple fixed an on app intent execution bug
Swift/Java people - This may be a stupid question.
The W3C's epub validator is a jar file that can be executed from the command line.
Is this something that can be easily wrapped in a small swift app? I.e. can you call a jar file from a swift Mac app and pipe the output. Do you need to install Java on your Mac to do so?
I clearly haven't thought about this much but woke up wondering if I could replace this use of Docker and remembered @airspeedswift@mastodon.social 's session at Server Side 2024.
