I just noticed that #CosmicDE screenshots now save to a screenshots directory in the pictures directory rather than just in pictures.

A small but good change. I like it as it keeps the directory clean.

The whole mission with #nasa #artimis is really cool. Tho they really need to step up their social media game. I remember hearing about it on NPR some time back, but then it just kinda fell my radar.

I was reading some discussion on the sudo-rs now showing asterisks. I don't hate that it does. I don't find that the rational to keep the typing hidden is really that strong. It reads like making a case for security by obscurity. Something which we all in the #foss world would already agree is a flaw. Most traditions outlive their usefulness and assumptions that made them. Maybe this says we need more than just long passwords in systems that use sudo. #sudo_rs #sudors #sudo #linux #security

@Techaltar@mas.to Is Europe a big enough market for the e-bikes? I am American, so my view is different. Not only is the bike infrastructure quite poor, but the price tag for most e-bikes feels like you could get an entry level motorcycle if you are inclined to not be in a car to start with. I am not sure how that squares with developing countries. I know mopeds and very small displacement motorcycles are somewhat popular and there doesn't seem to be that many people on bicycles.

I will say that it gives Gnome3 vibes when it launched in that it still hasn't had as much time to fill the bones with some meat so to speak. Tho I do agree that using a distro that uses gnome or KDE might be a better move as they are more mature. Linux Mint is also a reliable stable.

I think a case could be made that its ideals of protecting and encouraging new ideas was always skewed toward protecting the already wealthy, but this just highlights that we need major reform. I think AI might be a straw that breaks the camel's back here. If current beneficiaries keep fighting to hold current copy rights they are going to go into a music labels in the 2000s type situation.

Came across a nice video on my feed. I am generally not that big of a reader, but I try to be. I do like the advise to move on when you are not interested on a book or topic, as well as affirming that speed reading is kind of a scam. Generally when I read its non fiction and often something I am learning about. I've always had to take time with the material and it feels like being an odd one out if you are not getting something right away or as quickly.
