I'm sorry, Never-Ending Story movie, but I already have a flying dog dragon at home.
On this magical of days Friday the 13th, let me celebrate my void kitty from long ago. Her name was Acacia. She was a good, if misunderstood, kitty.

Three good things:
-> I've re-engaged with Amazon to get home supplies via the low income version of Prime. I know this is counter to avoiding Bezos, but for me, this allows me to live independently that much longer.
-> We did get a good amount of snow last Friday. And it's still sticking around despite warmer temps!
-> Spending three full days in a row with my dear kitty.
This YouTube channel Neurodivergent Insights is one of my current favorites for autism, ADHD, and AuDHD dialogue. They are very clear with their explanations, and even though they are a clinician, they are very much a part of our community.
In this particular video, they use the term "special interest solar systems" to explain how autism and ADHD intersect where autism is predominant. Found that rather fascinating to frame it in this context.

Has anyone hired someone to live with them or someone close to you in order to augment memory loss, where assisted living facilities aren’t a good fit? If so, I’d appreciate any insights or concerns to be aware of during the process.
Boosts for reach are always appreciated.
Saw these lovelies just outside my new GP/PCP's office yesterday, and am amazed just how majestic and stately they are.
I was able to make an autistic teachable moment today. On my favorite YouTube vegan cooking channel, someone made a comment. They explained that they have to mute the sound for all of that channel’s videos because the cooking prep sounds are overwhelming. They even apologized for this. I adore the channel creator, but her response was to thank for their honesty.
We shouldn’t have to apologize for our needs, and so this wasn’t honesty. I was able to raise sensory sensitivity in the autistic experience and what it might involve.
I hope this might’ve been a small step in educating on our lived experience.

This is exciting to see potentially happening in conservative Tennessee, USA. She is trying to effect real change if elected. Fingers crossed she is chosen, and much support from afar!
This article has me rather concerned. I honestly don't know if cyclists are like pedestrians in presumption of being yielded to.
But for the city police chief to hit someone on a cycle with their unmarked car and not face any consequences doesn't seem right to me.

In stock Mastodon, have I overlooked a setting that sets the default "show/hide boosts" behavior when you follow someone? This seems like it would already have been baked into the UI, but I can't find it.
If it doesn't exist, then I'll file an enhancement request into the project, in the hopes others would also benefit from controlling their home feed more.
Edit: It sounds like this setting is currently not present, so I filed suggestion 38350 with the Mastodon GitHub repo.
It's a Drawer-Stuffed Life - Annie
I found myself reacting in very different ways to a similar theme in 3 movies the last few days.
I started to watch "Minority Report" because I remembered the technology was cool. But I totally forgot the religious aspects, which made me uncomfortable being atheist, to the point where I abandoned the show after less than 15 minutes.
But I watched two other favorite shows "Babette's Feast" and "Chocolat" that were even more overtly religious, and yet I thoroughly enjoyed myself with both.
I think the difference with the latter two is that I identified with/connected with the strong women lead characters and was able to appreciate the religion as being integral in understanding the mindset of the isolated cultures.
Is this relatable?

For those with a diagnosis of ME/CFS, what was your next steps with a neurologist? I had one that diagnosed me and requested some basic brain imaging that was fairly unremarkable, but then dropped my insurance. I'm about to engage with a new neurologist and wondered what I might suggest for continued discovery/treatment?
