After many years, I'm back on Linux. Ubuntu for the moment and 98% smooth installation.
An archaic USB device did not want to play nice and a piece of software is now behind a paywall ... BOOOOO for #enshittification !
Anyway, I'll slowly work over to the new machine until the 2015 MacBook finally detonates, LOL.
This is a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen1 for anyone interested. I didn't even give Windows a chance to boot before wiping it completely.
Working on getting our #scalemodel LED lighting boards going again ...
Should be soon-ish.

Turns out Fritzing can still be had with standard sudo apt and thus bypassing the need to pay.
It's 1.0.1 ... The current is 1.0.6 I believe, but I had been working in 0.9.4/6 on Mac anyhow.
My guess is that 1.0.1 was the last freely available version you could easily get.
It's still just serving as a holdover as I get more fluent in KiCAD in Linux. And port over any relevant gerbers and what-not.

Sadly, the logic board on this Mac is about to go (seeing graphical glitches) or else I'd probably do something similar.

Fritzing ... I used to use it every now and then for REALLY simple, personal, one-off PCBs.
Use to be you didn't have to pay. Now it's $12 and I couldn't find a current workaround.
I've been learning KiCAD regardless.

Yes ... you can grab it from the github and probably build it yourself.
But if you want a pre-built or installer you'll have to donate it seems.
I donated twice back in the early days, and there used to be an option saying "I already donated," but it seems to be gone now.
I guess it was being abused? I dunno.
But like I said, I'm moving to KiCAD so I just needed some version for a short while to help transition over.
