@brennen@federation.p1k3.com I still remember my dad passed out on the couch when my brother, five years old at the time, just slammed him in the nards with a playskool golf club

My neighbor is sitting in his garage with the door open, drinking a beer and watching the storm, and yeah I made fun of him but also, I kinda wanna go do that now too
@APBBlue@thepit.social an HVAC tech just showed up at my house, maybe it’s yours

@brennen This is gonna be a large grouping that may as well be “Miscellaneous”, but I would add “We need a wide angle crowd shot that isn’t gonna have a lot of focus so just go buck wild with it, cat heads, extra arms, puppet monsters, whatever”. We mostly see this in the TOS movies but it happens on new Trek too thanks to CGI

@geekysteven True story, my uncles and father used to take me with them to job sites where they laid carpet, so carpet glue is a strong sense memory for me

@mediaarchaeologylab@post.lurk.org Not but an hour ago I was at my local comic shop and overheard the employees openly wondering about cyberdecks and why do people do them, is it based on a meme or a tiktok or a video game? And it took all my willpower to not jump in to the convo
Going to a convention tomorrow which means I will again be facing my biggest fear: that I will accidentally be dressed like a popular anime character I’ve never heard of, and have to explain to people that it isn’t a costume this is just what I wear because I have poor taste
Because i've got a fancy new site up (decidedly not very fancy) and because I ran a tabletop game for the first time since the pandemic this weekend, i wrote a little about the experience https://schwa.systems/blog/2026/i_ran_mothership/
Dr. Pulaski hating on Data so much on Star Trek is what fuels my distaste for AI garbage now

@APBBlue@thepit.social He just left because we have a bad condenser motor and now we have to wait for our home warranty to approve fixing it. So he should be on his way to you now
Our hotel is in a neighborhood across the street from an art college, and let me tell you how low key menacing it is to get off the tram and walk back to the hotel followed by a teen following you playing meandering saxophone jazz the whole way.
Tonight’s posts brought to you by: The reason I don’t get put in charge of CarPlay very often
After 10 PM it’s all bets off with ESPN
@Phangurl@vmst.io If you are enjoying/enjoyed Ark, the producer just announced the third season is coming out in a couple months
Random thought while watching a long passing coal train: if America went all the way and abandoned burning coal for energy, what would be the size of the impact on the railroad industry

@APBBlue@thepit.social I cut my teeth on both Quark and InDesign, and now that I don’t have either of those, any time I’m trying to make something Word or Pages or Google Docs I just get increasingly mad

@nirak@lincolnite.net I had the same thought (we’re also watching the new episode right now)
i refuse to believe he wrote that post because there’s no way he’d type out “Fuckin’”. it’d either be “FUCKING” all caps or some sort of Todd-from-Achewood style “fukken”
@APBBlue@thepit.social West Virginia’s flag would be improved if they were hangin dong for sure
My wife is lucky her name isn’t Peggy or Margaret, because if it were, every time I addressed her I would do it the way Michael McDonald yells “PEEEEEEEEEG” for the backing vocals on the Steely Dan song “Peg”.

@Phangurl@vmst.io My tortie cat had a favorite pillow she would curl up on and sometimes I would pick it up with her on it and carry it around the house while singing A Whole New World, so I assume this is what he is referring to

@brennen@federation.p1k3.com I’ve been using Kagi and while I don’t love the cost of it, it has been working well for me the past couple months
Walking tacos for dinner tonight but it’s Good Friday, so we’re making walking fish tacos. Cutting up some fish sticks and pouring them over Fritos like milk over cereal.
I like the cymbal work in Kool and the Gang’s “Summer Madness” because it sounds like the hi-hats are saying “Sufferin’ succotash” over and over through the whole song.
