So, Copenhagen is back to dark mode but I like to remember that for a brief moment my walk to work looked like this ❄️

Danish National Gallery (SMK) on Mastodon ✨
We launched the museum on Mastodon 3 days ago. And we're having so much fun that we even blogged about it: https://write.as/smkmuseum/smk-rhymes-with-mastodon
🙏 to all 🇩🇰 locals who've helped us land safely. And 🙏 to @_elena@mastodon.social, @georgiamuseum@glammr.us and others for tips+encouragement 🤗

Does AI use mean less web traffic for museums?
There are many ways to approach this, but here I've mapped the ratio of web visits at smk.dk to physical museum visits. If guests get info elsewhere, this ratio should change (i.e. fewer web visits per physical visit). I'm pretty sure that must be happening but currently the effect isn't strong enough to be clearly visible. We'll follow these numbers closely 🔎

@_elena @IceCubesApp As my first real home in the Fediverse I've found it pretty great. Shared love of podcasts makes it easy to start conversations :-)
Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916) was a Danish artist known for his portrayal of light in quiet rooms – and his love of grey 👨🎨
We just launched the Vilhelm Hammershøi Digital Archive at https://hammershoi.smk.dk.
It's a frontend for vast amounts of data produced by studying 130 paintings in great detail over 5 years 🔬
The site is meant for conservators and anyone interested in the technical aspects of art history 🧑🔬
We made it as #openaccess as we could!

@pluralistic@mamot.fr Why do you choose some words and not others?!

@awinkler @smk Basically our online collection checks to see if there's a matching inventory number on Wikidata and then fetches keywords. It's a bit neglected on our end, and my colleague is looking deeper. Afterwards we'll type up what we find on https://www.smk.dk/en/article/where-does-extra-data-on-smk-open-come-from/

@awinkler many cool possibilities. At @smk we pull in metadata from wikidata to power our own search on https://open.smk.dk/

@plausible@fosstodon.org Well done 💪
I don’t claim to understand the (possible) complexities of online identification but even I can see that this is a terrible idea.

@Gugel@hessen.social Nice one!
RE: @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net
Much more important (for me): Page rendering now significantly faster on iOS ✨⚡️

When processing an invoice from a US company in my accounting software I need to select "EU country" under the heading "Purpose". But only in 90% of cases. This is entirely in line with my expectations of accounting software.

@awinkler @smk I'll look into that! My understanding of the Wiki universe is highly limited but there's actually a connection between our collection and Wikimedia - maybe that could also be of use. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:WLKBot

@CoMaps@floss.social You guys are awesome. Not a real problem for me, but would there be some way of incrementally updating maps instead of downloading everything for each update?

@CoMaps@floss.social Oh yes I meant diff :-) Ok, just wondering 👋
