Gander Social claims it will soon be providing another way to verify identity w/o having to upload ID. Hope so, because the idea of a Canadian social network does appeal to me, but requiring online ID verification is an absolute deal-breaker for me (and, I’m guessing, many others). Remains to be seen what solution they come up with..

I 💯 support the right of university students to protest, without limits or conditions. If we lose that, we lose everything. We may have already lost. Time will tell.

My attempts at search having failed, I’m wondering if any Torontonians remember That Day It Was 50C. Was in the 1990s, want to say 1995, but maybe 1996. Was preceded by a long (2+ week) heat wave, but that specific day was insane. Anyone else remember? I remember lineups outside every establishment on Yonge that had AC.

Was in a hardware store a couple of weeks ago and noticed the same box fan I used to build our CR boxes is now fully double the price I paid in 2021 or 2022. No way it can be built for the quoted price, BUT still 100% worth it IMHO regardless of cost.

In retrospect, it seems like a stupendously bad decision on the part of our political class to have built a bridge to the US on the Canadian taxpayers coin. Perhaps I’ve missed it, but I’ve yet to see any editorial point this out.

Spent many hours in our then-unfinished basement flying my space ship off to exotic destinations. Curious to know what was my inspiration was at the time, I checked the date of our family’s big move: just a few months after The Empire Strikes Back came out.

But intentionally or not, he framed it in a way that gives all of the credit to Trump for a business deal that occurred between two independent countries, neither of which he controls. It’s akin to the language of colonialism in that it denies the agency of the two non-white parties, who deserve more credit for entering into the agreement than just chalking it all up to the white guy.

@scruss@xoxo.zone wow, I see the filters are now $33 a pop at CT, with 4 in stock at my local store. At those prices, the CR box I built 5 years ago for ~$150 would be more than double that today. Still absolutely worth it, but ouch.
