Our sentencing shouldn't be based on vengeance or some idea of what the convict "deserves". It should be based on preventing the thing from happening again.
Somebody stole our artichokes. They stripped eight of them off the plant in our front yard.
I don't care much about the actual artichokes. I can afford to buy artichokes. I do care that somebody stole them; I was looking forward to eating the thing that I grew; and that they didn't even leave us any edible ones.
If they had asked, I would gladly have given them some. I hope they took them because they were hungry, and not just because they were easy to steal. I wish they had asked.

@Compassionatecrab @ifixcoinops Have you tried bar shampoo and conditioner? I was reluctant because at ~$10/bar it seems spendy but the shampoo lasts 3 months and the conditioner almost a year.
We need a word for when a company intentionally produces a worse product, in order to try to get you to pay more for the standard product.
Eg, when airlines make everybody in a group sit separately, unless they pay extra to sit together.
What's the word for that?
